This is getting to the point of being absurd! We have yet another flood watch, it's pouring rain, 60 degrees and by looking at the extended forecast, rain every day for the next 10 days...although supposedly showers and scattered t-storms......anybody know how to do a "bring the sun back" dance???????

Just got the message below via email - Newhampshiregirl is in Waterville Valley - hope she and her family are weathering this well....Part of Route 3 and/or 118 (I think that's the roads) in Franconia were washed out this weekend from the rain....At least all this rain hasn't been snow!
email:
At 944 am edt, national weather service indicated 1.5 to 2 inches of rain had fallen over the last few hours in portions of northern New Hampshire.
Some locations in the warning include but are not limited to lancaster, franconia, bethlehem, north woodstock, woodstock, franconia notch state park, lincoln and waterville valley.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, as well as farmland along the banks of creeks and streams. Mudslides are also possible.
It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Hi D2D: Just posted this in a couple other threads, too, but rain has been horrendous. Our home is at a relatively high elevation and it's built on ledge on a hill. Luckily, the only damage we've personally suffered is a flooded basement - which is (was) a finished family room - because the ground is just saturated and can't take any more rain. Hubbie had to rip all the carpet out yesterday. We have a brook that runs behind our house. At this time of year it's usually almost dry. Now it's like a raging river. I've never seen anything like this in my whole life living in NH. Roads and driveways washed away and sink holes dotting the landscape up here.

Kinda off topic, but did anyone notice the google add on this thread..haha. Now thanks to JFR I always look at them. It was for a flatter tummy . What the heck does that have to do with the weather...sheez.

too funny! I think whatever is on your mind (?) is infiltrating the ads. Now I've got:
Flood Risk Maps, Flood Zone Maps, and... your 10 Rules of Flat Stomach instead of the weather forecasts! talk about a non-sequitor.
