Default Cost of living - Nashua area

I am trying to get some idea of the cost of living in he Nashua NH area. I'm a single person, will be living in the smallest possible house or possibly a townhouse. What would heating cost me? Other utilities? Just some general idea.

Would I do better cost-of-living wise in this area than in my current location, Maine?

Thanks so much for any help you can give. I'm in the midst of an agonizing decision that I have to make quickly before the heating season sets in.

I think it really depends on where your income is coming from, etc..........what type of job would you be getting? Southern NH is a very expensive place to live, in general. If you don't have kids, you could really live anywhere as schools won't be a concern, so I am assuming you could find some pretty affordable housing---but again, that depends on your income, etc. At least you wouldn't be paying any tax on that income if you work in NH, unlike Maine, and if you rent, you won't be responsible for extra property tax payments, etc...........

Thanks Angela. My background is in medical transcription and hospital and MD office clerical. I'll probably be working in that setting.

There are certainly lots of medical offices in Nashua, and St Jospeh's Hospital is a good one. No idea what the pay scale is, but there ought to be work!

Valerie C or one of the other occasional Real Estate agents should be able to help you with housing questions. And you can always poke around on Northern New England Real Estate Network - Official Website of the Northern New England MLS
