I moved up here to Laconia, NH from New Haven, CT at the end of May and so far I absolutely love it. Everyday life up here seems to move at a slower pace and I feel like I've let go of a lot of stress since moving. Also, the extreme liberalness of New Haven, Yale in particular, was just not for me.
For me, the move was a really good decision. I found a really great job and my pets seem happier now that they are out of the noise of New Haven. The transition from there to here was an extremely easy one, so much so that I really feel like this is where I'm supposed to be.

I moved to New Hampshire from the Kansas City metro area because I wanted to be closer to family in NH. The people here are generally reserved and friendly. I enjoy being close to the ocean, lakes, and mountains. I also enjoy the slower pace of life. I really like it much better here compared to where I came from. The quality of life here is just excellent.

My family and I moved to NH from Atlanta Ga (originally from Dallas Tx). The biggest reason I came up here was to get away from the madness of Atlanta traffic. I left a great job and ended up with an even better one.
One year later I still have no regrets. I love the summers up here, much prefer the colder weather up here to the hotter weather down south. Most of all, I have so much more time with my family now. I was spending on average almost 3 hours per day to/from work in Atlanta (12 miles one way), now it's more like 30 minutes a day to/from work for an 8 mile commute. I even get to come home for lunch now. Other things...The people up here are very nice. There's so much around here to do and I still haven't even done half of it yet. I've got a couple of "bucket list" items I need to take care of while I am in this neck of the woods.
We initially rented when we came up here, just to be sure if it was for us. My lease is set to expire soon and we are in the process of buying a house here. So that should tell you how much we like it. In the past 10 years I have lived in Dallas Tx, Lancaster Pa (still one of my favorite places), Ashburn Va, and Alpharetta Ga. I am glad that we have finally found a place where everything seems to be good for us (job, location/setting, social life, etc). So for me to find a place I feel comfortable buying a house in speaks volumes - even given the higher real estate prices vs Atlanta and Dallas. It's all been worth it.
Hopefully it will be for you too IF make the leap.

I've lived in NH my whole life...does it count that I moved from northern NH to the southern part of the White Mountains ("below the notch" as we say)?!
If it does count, then I can say I love it here. Perfect proximity to the lakes region, all the mountains we could ever wish for. Short drive to the city (by that I mean Concord & Manchester, which we really don't care to visit that often).

Well, I ask because I moved here and it has been really hard finding a job, even a simple mcjob while I finish out my trade in college. People don't seem to believe in keeping their word around here. Other than the job situation I love it. But this whole job thing is really dragging me down. I really need to find something, but people keep sending me on a wild goose chase here and I'm just like wtf? The weather here is just awesome, low 60's at night during the summer, hell yeah. I just wonder if the job market was always like this. If this keeps up I may have to go on welfare and I don't advocate welfare of any kind, but if I wanna keep my place I have to do what I gotta do. I also found the people to be much nicer up here than in PA.

My fiance had some difficulty getting a job after we moved up here. Not sure if it's the job market or the fact that she has a degree in sociology. She has a pretty nice job now, so it's all good.
What area of new hampshire are you in and what's your work experience/education in?

Great topic. I needed to know what people thought after moving to NH. I am glad everyone is happy about their move. Makes it less stressful for me If I move there.

Hey there nocturnal rooster! We moved to NH about two years ago and out of the places I have lived, I enjoy NH the most! I'm not the biggest fan of winter, but the other seasons surely make up for it. Altho, I didn't know that NH had a monsoon season!!!! o.O

Well for now I have warehouse experience, lol. But I'm majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Accounting. I can't do anything til I graduate though. I gotta stick to this mediocre jobs, but it seems that I can't even get those. And I'm in Manchester

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble finding work, rooster. You're in the right region for your major, at least. Lots of tech/programming work here. Hopefully you'll find something soon. Have you tried applying at any of the co's in Nashua? BAE systems & Oracle, or even United Health Care. Best of luck to you!!
