Konk was being sarcastic? I thought that was a fairly reasonable description of any town in New Hampshire.
I stop in Concord fairly frequently on our way to relatives north of the notch and have found the town to be fairly friendly and the shop keepers and waitresses quite helpful.

A leftist wannabe San Francisco of the east!!! Surely, you're joking, or have never been to SF. The cities couldn't be more opposite.

True. New Haven, CT more closely resembles San Fran than Concord.
Though I am very happy to know that the level to which Concord has risen to match the "leftist" towns in CT, NY and MA is, for some if not many, considered too much. If left unchecked Concord and all of New Hampshire South of it and probably a little ways North of it will collapse into ruin.
Just like CT and MA.
It all starts with the little things like trash pickup and plowing. Next thing you know you city/town is bankrupt but you have 5 heated bus stops costing $300K each $1.5 million total (while bankrupt mind you) and clinics on every corner bringing in all the criminals and addicts from the surrounding area right to your front door.
It would be nice to see this sort of thing stopped before it begins rather than allowed to go on for too long and essentially destroy the life in the town as you know it.
I've seen it happen to more than one town. They all repeat the same mistakes in the interest of "welfare" and "common good" and it always ends up the same way. Over-taxed, high crime, transients living in property no longer owner occupied, increase in service industry jobs and decrease in careers, over the long-term you get what is commonly know as "white-flight" and eventually the middle-class disappears save for a few transients passing though. You're left with a bulk of the population below the poverty line all dependent on the newly created "common good" services and super-wealthy minority that can afford to insulate themselves.
It can happen anywhere and it all starts with simple things like trash pickup and street sweeping and inviting junkies in with clinics.
Of course alot of people will call this ridiculous and alarmist and dismiss it as slippery-slope paranoia. Yup. I've heard and seen all that before too. It would be nice if anyone would actually learn the lessons history teaches for a change.

You know, I totally agree with not wanting a state or city to become filled with criminals and problems, but seriously.. CT and Mass. collapsing into ruin? Both places have their problems, but I think that might be stretching it a bit.
Unfortnately though, I don't think there's any easy answers to these problems. Not really a great example, but look at Scandinavian countries--they have liberal governments and possibly the highest tax burdens in the world, but people who often poll as some of the happiest in the world who I'd imagine would be loathe to exchange their systems for those in the US, which seem to be producing the most prosperous third-world country on the planet.
Whose fault is it? Republicans? Democrats? Liberals? Conservatives? I certainly don't know for sure, but these days I'm pretty cynical concerning all politicians..

Most of the people from the towns north of Concord like me, consider it a rude place, and don't like it there.
Pretty much like any other city. Someone will put you into the guard rail
before they'll let you out in front of them. For some reason also, the people who work in the stores there are rude as heck too.
I used to go there every weekend but got tired of being treated like a homeless dog, so now I just send away for my outdoor gear.
Save a ton of gas too.
Myself. I would look North, or East of Concord.

I was told that the towns West of Concord along 89 were great towns... what are some towns towards the East that you thinking about? How is the topography and schools?

I made some very good friends in Concord but I did not like the place-it was not for us. I do however love the Lakes Region. To each their own I guess.

You have got to be kidding. Burlington, VT makes Concord look quite conservative.

Yes, I like the Wilmot, Sutton, Newbury, New London areas in western Merrimack County. The TOPO is more rugged and hilly in this area with lots of houses on rural roads.

I have been to Burlington numerous times and agree that Concord is not as left as Burlington. However-in describing Concord I said "wanna be". Believe me-there are plenty of people that I personally know in Concord who would love it if it became San Fran or Burlington-thus why I said "wanna be".
