Just Got a $26 Fine for Going thru EZPass Toll
Just to let you know. I hardly ever go far enough south to go through the toll booth on 93 but last month I went to pick someone up at the MHT airport at 11 oclock at night.
I wasn't sure what lane to get into because the signs only say "EZPASS any lane." None of them mention cash anymore. At least not that I seen.
So! I went through one expecting to toss 4 quarters in a basket but, when I got there the baskets were gone. Guy behind me started beeping his horn and yelling out the window like a madman, so I just kept going through.
Later on that night I asked the woman on the north side what was going to happen. She said I would get a 26 dollar fine in the mail.
Sure enough ! It came in the mail yesterday with a picture of my license plate and 10 days to pay.
The moto of the story is. If you don't have EZPASS, stay wayyy to the right when going through the booth. If that one isnt open, I would pull over and find out which one to go through with cash.
I don't expect to be going that far south anymore anyway. I've set a new limit for myself not to go any further south than Concord. So if anyone is flying in to come visit me...Expect to rent a car!

On 93? The signs definately do say which ones take cash....we drive through there quite often. It is confusing if you don't go through there very often, I'll give you that!

I also believe (again, I go through there often enough that I don't pay too much attentionas I know what lanes take what) that the lanes that take cash have bright yellow signs and the EZPass only lane's signs are purple. There are also a couple signs before the toll booth (just after the liquor store) telling you which lanes are cash vs. ezpass only.

I don't know ! I didn't see any of that stuff. Must have focused on the toll booth. Or maybe I was digging for change. All I saw was a line of signs that read, "EZPASS ALL LANES." And all I know is, "IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN." They got there 26 bucks for the first and last time. Figure this out? The check gets sent to New Jersy EZPass.

I think that you can use EZPASS in *all* lanes, which is why all lanes have the purple EZPASS sign. Only the few lanes that accept cash have the extra "cash" signs. I'll check tomorrow morning when I I drive through. I know I always have to look twice, no matter what EZPASS toll road I am on, and I have been using EZPASS since it first began in NY!
