MYTHS ABOUT n.h. LAWS.
regarding the myths of N.h. laws.
1] Uninsured/ under-insured motorist laws, my policy charges $3-5 a year to pay for uninsured motorist coverage. It is so very low because N.H. achieves only 3% average of uninsured/ under-insured of the driving population on voluntary compliance, which rivals most states with compulsory insurance laws. ??Why create a new bureaucracy to solve a problem that doesn't exist?? All in the name of saving you $5-$6a year? What do you plan to do with your savings?
The reason that the tiny premium exists because the your insurance company has the legal right to go after the person that causes an accident and recover any expenses from them.
As for the helmet law, has steadfastly been defeated in the legislature as extension of the state's philosophy that it is not the state's responsibility to protect you from you're own stupidity. You are quite welcome to tie 100 weather baloons to tie a lawn chair + float away if you wish. [I hope the cheap made in China chair doesn't malfunction somewhere over the Atlantic ocean. ]

USA Today article on helmet laws+ cell phonesW/ driving
1/29/2007
"New Hampshire lowered its traffic deaths in large part by focusing on motorcycle safety, says Peter Thomson, coordinator of the New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency. New Hampshire had 21 motorcycle deaths in 2006, compared with 41 in 2005. The state has no helmet law, but police focused on traffic enforcement, especially alcohol and speed, and the state sponsored safety announcements on radio, television, billboards and newspapers. "I can't put a finger on any (factor) except for the fact we raised the awareness of motorcycle activities in our state," Thomson says. "
Nh also has a distracted driver law that provides up to $1000 in fines for talking on a cell phone, or other distractions like eating + fiddling with the radio, at the discretion of the officer involved.

This is what I don't understand on this board...WannaComeHome! Your bio say's that you are from Maryland....What does NH laws have to do with you? I am just asking nice because I don't understand.
To me, it would be like me picking a town out in FL, where I plan on retiring in 10 years and Moderator cut: watch the language about their laws....Help me to understand this, please.
Same thing to you NH2NCmom.
I can see you having an interest in the state but, what do our laws have to do with you?

I believe Wanna has it in her siggie that she is on a plan to return to NH. And NH2NCmom is originally from this area and would like to return. There seem to be a number of people on this forum who love NH and either want to or are planning to move here.

It's simple, MFWIC: you don't understand because you don't want to. NH3NCmom already told you she was originally from there and plans on returning. So of course laws, taxes and other aspects of NH concern her. It's her past and her future.
And if you bothered to actually examine my screen name, you'd realize that although I currently am stuck in MD that's obviously NOT my home (or I wouldn't need to use a screen name implying that I wasn't where I want to be - which I'm not)! I want to come HOME: NH. I was born and raised there (my mother was born in Portsmouth) and left for college - I've been trying to get back ever since. I still have family there, I come up to visit as often as I can, we own our retirement land already and are also looking at buying an interim house until our new one is built (in 4 years). So of course I'm concerned about the laws and taxes of the state.
Why is it you think that only people who currently live in NH are the only ones allowed to be concerned about it's future, Or who should be allowed to post on this forum? That's what I don't understand. Don't you think it reasonable that people who used to live there and might known a bit about a place should be welcome to give advice and suggestions to people looking at moving into their areas?? Don't you think that people with family still there, and/or people planning on moving there (regardless of previous residence) might have concerns about what the laws and taxes are going to be?
So, why don't you understand?

Yes but if they don't own property in NH, nor pay taxes in NH, nor even live in NH,. Then what is this WE NEED TO..Or WE DON'T NEED A?
I mean, Who is we?
They both just climbed up one side of me and down the other about a sales tax thread that I posted and they don't even live here. WTH?
Now they are rattling on about how we don't need a helmet law and cell phone law here. WTH?
