Anyway... this state and many others had a huge knee jerk reaction to that bridge collapse in Minnesota. Seems like there was a rush to start repair projects and then the money ran out. Contact state DOT for information on your project.

The bridge at the end of my road has been closed since late last year, "because some concrete might fall off on to the railway as vehicles go over" (evidently, minivans cause more vibrations than a 20,000 ton freight train passing under!). Of course, the residents don't mind because people no longer use our leafy country lane as a 50mph short-cut.

PS: anyone who thinks they can win a fight with Russia using tanks might want to talk to the Germans.

HA HA HA HA....LMAO......no they would be recalled because of the lead paint....lol....

more info please?

just tell us the name of the river....perhaps we can find out more about the situation. I doubt that the government confiscated the steel.

I have heard that the US has imposed some massive taxes on chinese imported steel. Perhaps the town could not cover the increased costs.

Construction everywhere is slow due to high costs. We have bridges and roads that need repair and have been closed since the floods a year ago. Slowly, they are being rebuilt.

I still think either the neighbor who told you, or the 'bridge worker' who told him is pulling someone's leg. Sometimes you have to take things with a grain (or a pound) of salt.

Seriously: if steel was being diverted for tank building, that would mean that the steel mills would already be at peak production...which they aren't. It would mean that the news would be full of auto plant problems due to steel shortages - which it isn't, they're closing due to low sales not low materials. And trust me, the Washington Post would be full of letters and articles about building tanks with commandeered steel (just ask BF or some of the others who lived in Northern VA! Not sure if NotDancingQueen got the Post or the Sun). None of this is happening, so I just don't believe that's what happened to your steel.

It certainly is a shame, though, not to finish the bridge.

above is a list of all the bridge work scheduled for this year in NH.

Does the OP think the lack of steel has something to do with the Russia/Georgia conflict?

I just think it is real funny that they would just pull steel form this brige in nh. When over in the St Lois area the are fixing all their briges......lots of steel there. Maybe there was shortage of funds, or like wanna said, "pulling your leg"

I talked to someone else today that said they heard the same but from someone else.
I'm going to take the dog for a walk down there tonight and get a picture and post it.
Also: I looked at the list of bridges being replaced or rebuilt here in NH and this one is not on there. No mention of it and I know why too. But I can't say right now.
This is BIG ! Really BIG !
