How about everyone chiming in - if you're interested in relocating, how about mentioning which area of the state you're thinking of?

I'm here because I live here..... I don't remember how I found the forum, but when we first moved I had tons of questions about the state and the people here were gracious enough to be EXTREMELY patient and answer my questions....I'm now addicted to the forum!

Anybody else what to chime in? Please?
Hi D We'll be relocating to NH next year. I've gotten great info from the people on this forum. They are really great folks. We're thinking of moving
towards Carroll County. probably Freedom area.

Freedom is a real nice area. What a beautiful name for a town. We would be neighbors.

Hey, D2D!

Yes! H'burg is approx. 45 minutes north of York (which is about 45 minutes north of Baltimore). I've been to York many times and can understand your friend's disenchantment: York is pretty run down and has an alarmingly-high crime rate (not something you'd associate with central PA). In fact, I'd be willing to bet that York is far more crime-ridden than the 'worst' parts of Manchester!

That being said...there are some nice parts, but from what I've seen...I'm glad I live in Harrisburg! It's by no means perfect, but I feel much safer than if I lived in York! I haven't been to Reading yet, so I can't really comment on that.
