I came here originally because I was relocating from SoCal. And now that I've moved, I'm just hangin' around

I'm here, lurking and learning. DFH and I are looking forward to relocating from SE Virginia to New England, probably NH or VT. I grew up courtesy of the US Navy - so lots of places, a few years in Cali, a few in Idaho, far too many in VA; DFH is from VA. We miss snow and real seasons. I do have family in Mass, but don't want to move there. NH looks *wonderful* and I'm tentatively planning a scouting trip for us to help us decide.

Everyone at the forum has been wonderful and posted great information. This has made a huge difference in our planning!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw D2D state "I'm getting confused!"

We live in California. My husband was raised in New Hampshire, and he left for a
job opportunity. We visit New Hampshire often, and would like to someday call it home.

My hubby suggested I research New Hampshire on the internet,
and a google search brought me here. I enjoyed reading the
informative posts, but the interaction between the members was great too.

I joined CD one year ago, but didn't start posting until October. Not only
have I learned more things about New England, I have also discovered an
outlet for my photography and creativity with graphics, who knew ~
it's like scrapbooking on my computer, lol.

Thank you to everyone for answering my questions, to those that make me laugh,
and thank you for the thoughtful & supportive notes as well.

Default Enjoying and learning from your Posts

I'm Debra and I'm browsing and enjoying the New Hampshire pages because my husband and I are thinking of relocating in a few years. We live in the Chicago suburbs and have lived here most of our adult life, but we feel landlocked and tired of Flat Terrain. Imagine, when Chicago suburban people want to get away from city problems without leaving the area they...build big blocky houses on flat farm land far west of the city, with few trees and no water in sight.

My husband is a New Jersey boy and wouldn't mind going back to beautiful New England countryside and the Atlantic shore.

We plan to take a trip around New Hampshire this spring.

I'm learning a lot from you folks and will keep tuning in.

I get confused easily, no biggie I was just trying to get a handle on who lives here, who wants to move here and who just like to hang out with us, that's all

I just figured it would be nice to have everything in one area as we get to know each other

Were you afraid I was confusing Bigfoot with the moose, bear, peacock, deer, or other assorted critters?

How did you like Idaho? I hear a lot of great things about it, and the scenery looks great.

In fact, I'd be willing to bet that York is far more crime-ridden than the 'worst' parts of Manchester!

That being said...there are some nice parts, but from what I've seen...I'm glad I live in Harrisburg! It's by no means perfect, but I feel much safer than if I lived in York! I haven't been to Reading yet, so I can't really comment on that.
VM - That's pretty much what my friend in York says - she moved there from Jersey quite a few years ago to get away from a lot of the crime and now it seems to have moved to her and evidently a lot of businesses have been closing over the last couple of years. She's not talking about leaving yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear she's moving at some point.

I went to a wedding in Reading many, many years ago - it was a small affair and the "entertainment" for the reception was an 80-year-old lady who played the saw!
