Good morning shop14 - I live in Littleton, have never been to New London, so I can't really compare the two places.

Things to consider would be, if you are working, what type of work do you do? I *think* the two largest employers in Littleton proper are the hospital and Hitchner Manufacturing, but I'm not positive.

Do you have children? There are 3 schools in town, the elementary, middle and high school. Today is the first day of school up here, in fact

We get cold up here, not sure how cold it gets in New London. The first year we were here, we had about a week in January where it never got above 0 degrees, but we had very little snow. Last winter was "milder" but we got a boatload of snow. Neither the temperatures nor the snow kept people from doing things, however. The roads were well maintained even with all the snow.

You won't find malls up here, so if you like malls, this would not be the place for you. Just outside of the town proper, there is a Shaw's, Wal-Mart, Staples, Lowe's, Home Depot, Applebee's, 99, TJ Max, Dollar Tree, Rite-Aid, Walgreen's, Tractor Supply, etc.

In town, there are various restaurants, the Littleton Diner, a couple of motels, a Social Security office, 2 churches on Main Street, the Village Bookstore, the Library. Further down is the Opera House, which is currently being renovated, Alburrito's (a Mexican restaurant), a florist or two, jewelry store, a chinese restaurant, etc.

We used to have a Brooks Drug Store, which closed when Brooks merged with Rite-Aid, that building is currently vacant, but from what I understand, something is alreay set to move in there, but I haven't heard what, exactly.

We are supposed to have a co-op going in soon, Littleton Consumer Cooperative Society, Inc. .

There are quite a few houses for sale, according to one realtor, houses are selling up here, just slower than they used to, not sure if you would be renting or buying. Real estate for sale runs the gamut from mobile homes to 1 million dollar homes. I've seen listings for apartments as well as houses for sale.

Littleton has easy access to I93 and fairly easy access to I91.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, so if you can think of any specific questions, just ask and I will try to answer them. I'm not sure which website(s) you looked at, so here are 2 that I use frequently. Hope this helps a little with info on Littleton, at least

Littleton, New Hampshire
Town of Littleton New Hampshire

I just saw where your current location is LI - if you do a search for the screen name roerinaci - they moved to Littleton last year, I think, from LI - I haven't seen them post in awhile, but you could get another LI's viewpoint from posts they made on the forum

If you are going to be in Littleton for the weekend and have some extra time on your hands there is the Lancaster fair. I think it would be an approx
half-hour drive-maybe a little more.

We are in fair season now and it might give you a good taste of NH-especially the living in the northern part of the state. Just a thought.

Lancaster Fair

Have a fun weekend exploring.

I love Littleton, but that's probably because I'm originally from Lancaster and love the north country.

My quick take on the diff between Littleton & New London is that NL is a little bit more on the 'upscale' side.

Enjoy your trip to Littleton and have fun at the Lancaster Fair.

Geesh - Thanks for thinking of the Lancaster fair! I had been trying to think of something going on this weekend and even though the radio has been talking about the fair almost every hour, I completely blanked it out! I guess my brain circuitry is burned out about now

This weekend is also the END OF SUMMER BASH in Waterville Valley!

Maybe we need to start a separate thread for all the cool things to do this weekend in NH!
