After living in Cincinnati for 6 grueling years and heat and humidity plus the fake people . I could not wait to get back to NH. They had maybe 3 seasons there but here you have 4 very distinct seasons bar a few years of anomaly. This summer even with the prolonged period of rain was fantastic for sleeping and the days of 75-85 degrees couldn't be beat. it was like October in August. The people for the most part are very real. The further into NH you go the more real they become. I will never leave again.

I have to agree with you 100%.Since moving to Florida i have met more phony people than i ever have in my whole life. There is a lot to be said for having 4 seasons. I beleive to live up there you have to always be moving forward to be prepared for the next season.Down here it is so easy to get stagnent. I've come to the conclusion that i'm way to young to be happy down here.I also agree with you that when i get back to N.H. i will never leave again.

Wow. I really wish that I could quote you all!

I hope to move back in 2010. I am looking to advance in my career before moving back home (and save enough cash so that I can take my time and find a job I'll actually enjoy.)

I love the seasons changing, and the eating habits that come with that change. You know it's funny, I was getting ready for work this morning and I was thinking about the fact that it's almost September (Can you believe it? Where has this year gone?) and with fall comes BAKING! There's something about being here, in the South, that doesn't put me in that mood! All I could think about this morning was the smell and taste of fresh baked bread!

I love the smells of the seasons. The crisp summer mornings, and the chilly fall nights...

I will say though, seeing snow is going to be shocking! It's nice to look at, but not so much fun to shovel!

I grew up in NH and really have to say that it wasn't until I moved here, that I started to appreciate where I came from. I needed this change, and this pace for a while, but, in all honesty, it's time to come home!

It's funny how many of us who have left NH end up realizing we took it for granted & coming back. Hope that makes sense, I'm exhausted...
Also, Ken, what you said about Floridians becoming stagnant makes sense- I have this theory that people in warmer climates become complacent, causing a shift in priorities, the end result = phonies. **this is merely a generalization, and as such does not apply to everyone**
Best of luck to you, kanatastar!

I think what I love best about New Hampshire in particular is the four seasons. Just when you're sick of one (although how can anyone get sick of summer!)

I can see why you would say that NewHampshireGirl! But coming from CA when 360 out of 365 days per year is sunny you get depressed with it. Especially after you have been living hear by oh 20 years! Trust me, it rains like 5 days a year and it never snows and there is virtually no change in season... just summer. The heat gets a little bit more tolerable in our "supposed winter" but the rest of the year is pretty much like Dante's Inferno!

All of the above! Many years ago, during my foot loose and fancy free stage, I took the time to travel the country by car. I took in many beautiful sights and visited many cities.

During my travels I learned, at least for myself, that there weren't many cities I'd care to visit more that once. I also remember that the only place I'd ever consider living in, besides NH, was the Colorado/Utah area due to it's beauty. But, as you can see I'm still here, for we have beauty here also.

New Hampshire seems to change slowly, for the good and bad. That's our pace of life here. At least it is for me.

A good example of change, which causes me a laugh from time to time, is when I tell people I visited Las Vegas during my trip. For a country boy in 1968, the flickering lights, the casinos, the people was just amazing. I guess it wasn't enough for some people though. They bulldozed the entire place down and rebuilt it. Now my Las Vegas pictures look like they've been photo shopped from the movie "The Godfather". I'm glad they didn't do that to my town!

Everyone have a happy Friday and a great Labor Day.

Ayeah thats true enough. We moved out of Franconia after being raised in Lisbon to tampa bay florida, Dumb, MAJOR Dumb, Moved north to Birmingham Alabama, Lobotomy time and are relocating to Pittsburgh Pa shortly. We miss the smell of the air in the mts after a rain and even during and after a snow, melting snow in the spring, Cannon Mt ANY time of year (Former Ski bums here) sno mobiling, ice skating, Clean water, about the ONLY thing we do NOT miss are the spring Midges and deer flies we had in Easton. Going to be some more time to come back home but at least we know that "You can't Git to they-uh frum hee -uh just ain't true! That being said most reverently, southerners just have no idea how to speak the Kings English "Ya'll"
