Garbage Pickup Cost
Anybody know how much it costs to have your garbage picked up every month? Or is the service inclusive in the property tax?

Community Profiles
Not every community has municipal trash removal. Some have transfer/dump areas, so you have to check out the community profile to find out. You can always hire a trash company!!

You may want to add this to your favorites. This has excellent data concerning all NH towns. Just find the town you want and pick your choice of view. The left hand side of the profile has all the important town data.

My town does not have curbside service. We opted to hire an independent company for $38/month. They take five 32-gallon bags a week (that's A LOT of garbage- five of those big black contractor bags). We're probably going to drop down to bi-weekly service which is half as much...

Thx for the info. I will look into it. It is 45/mo here in CA. Pretty similar but I don't think I have an option for bi-weekly. Thx again for the info.

No municipal pick-up in our town. We used to pay $10/week, which I always thought was too much.

yeah, if you don't produce a lot of trash as a family and the dump site is close, it may be cheaper to drop it off yourself especially if you can wait at least 2 weeks to make a trip.

Garbage pickup varies from town to town
Often there is a local contractor that will offer pickup. My town charges for "special orange bags" which are the only bags the town will pickup. Ours are $1.25 per 50gallon bag smaller 30gallon ones are about 75 cents. Exeter also does this. This is becoming more widespread from own to town as each town abdicates their trash duties of using property taxes for this purpose. Refrigerators or any appliance that contains freon must be recovered according to Federal law, cost $15.00 each. Old Tvs $15.00. small electronics such as an old VHS or computer monitor=$5.00. A sofa or a mattress are $15.00 each. So jettison that stuff before you move!
Many towns offer free dump days sometime for spring-cleanup. Biodegradable s such as leaves etc. are free to dispose of, since they can be reduced in a controlled burn.

One thing that I'm interested in is recycling. I'm an avid recycler and my local transfer station here on the Cape is very good about that. I separate mixed paper (includes cardboard and newspaper), plastics, glass, and tin cans. This translates into one large kitchen bag of "garbage" per week for a family of four. I couldn't imagine creating 5 bags of trash per week!! That's insane!! I pay $130 per year for a dump sticker. This has gone up $40 in the last three years mainly due to fuel and transportation costs. All of the garbage on Cape Cod is transported off-Cape to an incinerator. There are no more "dumps" or landfills.
Anyone recycle in NH? I know some places are not that "friendly" when it comes to that, so just asking. I just can't bring myself to throw away items that can be recycled, especially glass and plastic. It's sort of goes against my grain.
