Hey Verseau, thanks for posting the links. Does it also show how the snowfall has been in past Christmas' or Thanksgivings?

March 2004

In most cases, snow covers the state for pretty much all month, although in 2006 (an unusually mild winter), thaw was widespread. In 2004 the snow was on and off the ground in southern NH. Northernmost NH seems to always have snow all month, though.

Of course, the climate here has become increasingly unpredictable.

Yep, just change the "mar" part of the URL to "dec" or "nov" and also change the year in the URL. In the bottom right corner of the map, you can see the exact date. For example:

December 2007

December 2006
(one of the few non-white Christmases we've had in a while... the snow came down on December 26th! )

December 2005

December 2004

Snow on Thanksgiving is more common in far northern NH, although we did have Thanksgiving day snow in 2005 across the state:

November 2007

November 2006

November 2005

November 2004

When you visit check out Gilford it's right below Laconia and it's very nice. I am not far from there. March will be a good time. My Daughter lives in Denver but I still love it here.

Will do. Does your daughter like Denver? I was looking into the Fort Collins/Loveland, Co area. I don't really have a clue where we are going to end up.

After being born in Keene, NH, living in Florida for 38 years, then moving to NC for 12, I'm finally heading back "Home." I've wanted to go back since I moved there when I was 5 years old. I'm going back and moving into my grandparents' old home and I couldn't be happier.

Hey, that's great! I will be moving back to my first hometown, myself. It's kinda a neat feeling to complete a circle like that. Congrats on moving into your grandparents' home.

My wife and I will be coming to the Lakes region on October 9th to view the Fall foliage. This is my Fall break at school. From what I have read this should be about the perfect time to view the spectacular New Hampshire colors.

Yep, the colors should be pretty nice by then. The Lakes Region typically hits peak on or shortly after Columbus Day weekend.

Do you have any scenic drives planned? I'm fond of Route 113 between Holderness and Sandwich, Route 107 between Laconia and Pittsfield, Route 11 between Laconia and Alton, and of course Castle in the Clouds off Route 171 in Moultonborough.

If you realize that the foliage isn't quite at peak (still lots of green) when you arrive, you could always shoot up I-93 to Lincoln / Franconia Notch or Route 25 - Route 16 to Conway / Mt. Washington. And the Kancamagus Highway (Route 112 between Lincoln and Conway) is very popular in the fall, along with Bear Notch Rd. between Albany and Bartlett.
