That would be be pretty hard to enforce wouldn't it? A lot of towns don't have gas lines yet. Isn't that why a lot of us are still using oil heat?

A state law passed in July set the Jan. 1 ban for selling outdoor wood-fired hydronic boilers that don't meet federal air pollution standards.

Pam Monroe is the state Department of Environmental Services compliance bureau administrator in the air resources division. She said the EPA has certified six different manufacturers for outdoor units. They are listed on EPA's Web site.
Starting Jan. 1, "you won't be able to sell some models that you can currently sell," Monroe said.
the Union Leader ran an article about it on Sept. 7th....
Rick Devoid, of Northwood Power Equipment, who's outdoor heaters don't meet the EPA requirment said, "it doesn't seem right that people can still burn wood in fireplaces come 2009 but not his outdoor heaters."

unregulated, uncontrolled, wood smoke toxic and deadly
Many poor people are also getting asthma at alarming new rates and the particulates from wood burning has been shown to be pretty toxic. Others have to battle emphysema and shortness of breath. Many times poor people and the middle class can't afford the health insurance that goes up almost 10 to 15% a year as its inflation rate. Smoke pollutes everyones air and people should have the right to breath air that won't damage their health. Often lung damage and loss of lung capacity is irreversible. Particulates cause inflammation of the blood vessels as they pass through the lung lining and into the blood- this has been shown to thicken the blood and lead to easier clotting and heat attacks, something Zocor cant do anything for. So whose going to take care of people getting emphysema and needing to be on pure oxygen or those having their first "premature" heart attack? We should be going to green technology which is safe and not going back to the dark ages with allowing any type of wood burning stove regardless of the emissions. This has nothing to do with elitism and liberal versus conservative, but rather justice under the law which requires regulation so that one person's pollution does not infringe on their right to life.

If NH tried to ban them then it would be just another nanny law .
Of course those elitist types would want to ban them as they can afford to heat their homes.
As for being surprised about CO , well remember many CA folk are moving out to CO and thus bringing their liberal left wing votes with them,
Their not happy with just ruining their old state by their voting but now pack up and now are trying to ruin their new state with their votes.
Look at some of those who have moved out of MA .
They have gone onto other states and are now ruining them because of their non thinking voting pattern.
Never understood why someone would want to move into a new and then want to change it to how their old ruined state looked

Just another Green Nazi. "Kill a baby, save a tree."
I guess what he is saying is that it's better for the elderly to freeze to death tonight than to live another 10 years with diminished lung capacity.
