Same problem. People who live out in the rural areas stay warm with their fireplaces. Then the area gets crowded and the people start crying my eyes hurt. I suppose if you move to the desert you won't have to worry about the woodstoves, but you may be offended by the methane from the camels.

I find it's not so much the idea of protecting the enviornment that people dislike, it's the activists that hurt the overall cause.

Default A clear example of a dangerous mind set

IMHO The above quote is a clear example of a mindset which is the mantra of the new green fascism! How absurd and ludicrous this attempt to portray the burning of wood to heat one's home during cold winter months as a public health hazard! To scare all of us to think a possible calibration level will be violated! This is so disgusting

Oh my! My poor little lungs are going to collapse because my next door neighbor is burning wood in his fireplace! I am going to call the authorities and report him. That is such a big no no! Cough Cough! Ouch I think my Adam's Apple is getting infected!

Oh my god, am I still allowed to use the word god! Get real! Of course during winter months and temp inversions you will always have a greater particulate presences in the troposphere! Big Left Wing Deal!!!!!! Live with it! It is called adaptation! By the way freezing to death is a public health hazard and so is driving on icey roads! What are you going to do sue Mother Nature!

When you subscribe to this anal retentive micro management of the climate, as are all these Al Gore cult like sheeple have, you are breaching the reasonable and fundamental rights of people! If your poor little baby lungs cannot handle your neighbors wood buring then move to Venezuela and live with Hugo Chavez!

A litle smoke does no damage. A lot of smoke does. Why should I trade my health for your convienence and or tradition?

I can hardly believe new englanders are whining about particulates from wood burning. What a joke. I couldn't wait to leave Los Angeles to be surrounded once again by tough and sane new englanders instead of enviro flakes....what the heck happened here in the past 10 years?

The thing that really irks me is Greg wanting less air pollution so badly that he would support a wood burning ban on a population, yet he supports workforce housing which forcibly creates more densely populated areas than towns may be equipped to handle reasonably.

I'm fairly certain that HOW we would control wood burning would be quite different than how the Nazis controlled things, no? Unless you envision mass executions and deportment for people who illegally burned wood?

Plus, I think rmcewan had it right... I can't see how the population density in NH would ever warrant such a ban - even if everyone had them.

Tough and sane New Englanders are a thing of the past. It takes a lot more to be a New Englander than just living there.

notdancingqueen, there is that quote out there which I will attempt to re quote "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it!" Who would have ever believed civilized people could succumb to a public policy that resulted in the extermination of 6 million Jews?

I respectfully disagree with you, as to brush away the current green eco fascism as insignificant and not at all a threat to our personal freedoms is nothing less than ignorance of history. The current path our country is on has so many parallels with what happened during the rise of the third reich.

However, what is most disturbing regarding the Nazis and the current Green Movement is the fact that in America today there is an ignorance and lack of knowledge of how the ecology movement began!

German zoologist Ernst Haeckel coined the term 'ecology, as his German followers were in search of a purity and nirvana that would restore them to a more pristine environment which had been destroyed by the hostile actions of the Jewish urban industrialists! These Green Germans truly believed that the Jews were conspiring to destroy their wholeness and purity. This exacerbated the traditional German antisemitism into nature-friendly terms called the "völkisch"movement!

These Romantic obsessions of purity, and of anti-Enlightenment poured into twentieth century politics finally emerging into a modern ecology which "forged the final link in the fateful chain which bound together aggressive nationalism, mystically charged racism, and environmentalist predilection"!

This eco behavior of today in so many ways mirrors that era in Germany. Furthermore, the current path we are on where many politicians have this anal obsession and micro management of exaggerated health issues and scams like man made global warming clearly demonstrates the use of the same hyperbole which the Green Nazi Germans used as propaganda against Jews!

Erm...I didn't brush away the green movement as insignificant. I just said we wouldn't gas people who burned wood.
