burned coal many years ago- dont have a problem with coal- just not as easy to get as wood when you live in the woods, plus its messy.

NO, it didn't!
I've noticed you doing this in other threads as well Greg. You seem to want to turn things around to the argument you want to have.
I started this thread and I couldn't have cared less about outdoor wood furnaces, nor was I even familiar with them prior to this thread. In fact I still couldn't care less about them. I asked about wood burning fireplaces. You know, sit around the fire, roast marshmallows???

I don't support agressive energy development on BLM lands. Many people in the western US vehemently disagree with Bush's latest policy action.

I did hear that oil and propane prices did decrease by about half in the past few months, though.

Have you ever seen a rig out here? I happen to live out here in Western Colorado, and besides the granola eaters in Boulder, the majority of residents west of Vail support the oil and gas companies because it brings high paying jobs. Our economy is growing, unlike the rest of the country. Our housing prices are up 12% last year, and they're predicting another ~10% this year. Our energy rates are also some of the lowest in the country.
Most drilling rigs you wouldn't even see since they are surrounded by native plants and painted a color to camouflage it into the surrounding environment.

They have and I'm happy about that. What a quandary.
#1. Burn wood and send the enviro-wackos into a tizzy.
#2. Burn oil and send the enviro-wackos into a tizzy.
#3. Freeze to death.
What to do?
I know. Tonight I'll burn and turn on the heat.
