Peterborough has a few good restaurants, but it depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend. Acqua Bistro is a nice restaurant on the pricey side. Moderate sized menu with Steak, Lamb, Seafood etc. all very nicely done. Plus, they sell a variety of thin crust pizzas, which I've honestly never tried. The Pearl is also very good. A wide variety of fresh oysters plus a variety of dishes all with an Asian flair. For more casual, pub style dining, I like Harlow's pub. Harlow's has great sandwiches, dinner specials each evening, and my favorite...vegetarian chili.

Brattleboro has lots of restaurants covering a variety of cuisines and prices.
I've eaten at all the following places:
$$$ Peter Haven's
$$$ Alici's Bistro
$$ Panda North-Chinese
$$ Thai Garden
$$ Fireworks, gourmet pizza
$$ New England House in West Brattleboro (our favorite) varied menu
$$ Gillie's Seafood, plus more menu items
$$ Brattleboro Co-op deli, hot food too
$-$$ The Marina
$ Sportsmen, good food, quick, basic, DH raves about the homemade soups
Of course, there's Ninety-Nine, Pizza Hut and a bunch of local pizzerias and the usual fast food restaurants

Will try Peter Havens tonight; all good things on reviews....
Regarding Alici's Bistro reviews seem all over the place, what has your experience been?

While in Brat, check out McNeil's for some fresh brewed beers.

I have not been as of yet but the hot spot in Peterborough is Harlow's Pub. If you like a good burger then O'Brady's is the place to be. They have a seperate resturant and sports bar, you can get their burgers in either.......definitely my 2nd place to get a burger.
Also.......if you like pizza, well, take your pick.....any local place is good. For grinders (and pizza) you can't beat the Peterborough Pizza Barn.
Wow.....I just realized I said grinders and not subs! :O

tried the last few weeks, never worked out, they only have 10 tables, and somehow the weekends when my wife & I wanted to head over, they were always booked solid; (so would recommend calling ahead a couple days in advance)
Actually even tonight they did not have anything open till 9am, but Thomm suggested that we might want to come over around 8pm & sit at the bar till something opened up; we got there shortly after that & we got a table immediately
for appetizers we had the chicken liver pate & the missus had a potato/tomato bisque
main course I went for the tortellini, tossed with mushrooms, sauteed chicken & sausage in a cream sauce.... pretty impressive
Wifey had the swordfish with greens, potatos & wild rice on side; the swordfish was the BEST ever fish I have tasted in, truly melts in your mouth kind....
An amazing experience; as good as any we have had in NYC, SFO, Boston, CHI, Zurich, Geneva, Paris, etc....
we will certainly be back
