There is nothing "progressive" about liberalism so let's all please ignore their self described mantra. Liberalism is as regressive as it gets. There is no advancement of people as a whole, only advancement of individuals. There is no unity, but a mask of diversity so that the individual can get whatever it is that they want. Tearing down any form of standard or value is regressive as it leads to chaos. Socialism and communism are failed forms of government and just dreams in the liberal utopia. Keeping people enslaved to the state as a means of power is not helping anyone.

Keep NH pure and truely for the people.

One of the first things these new arrivals try to do is recreate the environment they left by trying to implement their progressive ideas. Often many of the progressives sarcastically say "live free or die," when they are not able to get what they want from the court system. They often view native residents of NH as narrow-minded and less educated.

I hope that progress does not change NH into what the other "progressive" states have become. I'd like to know that there is still somewhere my family and I can go where people have the pride to try and take care of themselves, their friends and neighbors through their own hard work, actions, and kindness and not assign it to some impersonal government program.

God Bless New Hampshire!
You are correct there are alot of liberal moving here. But we have been lucky until recently. The Govenor and the new demacratic house are very liberal and trying to pass laws that go against what Most in the state want. Sound familiar. (VT around the 70's) 1 can just hope the Native people in NH wake up and boot the Govenor and his cronies. He kept saying he wasn't a liberal. But now the Dems have full control His true colors are showing and People are getting pissed. He wont make another term. And all we can do is hope, the republican that replaces him will right his wrongs and take back NH. So it is once again the state that poeple know as the LIVE FREE or Die state with LOW taxes and hard work can get you there. And the Goverment cuts instead of tax. And we all have our freedoms regardless of where or what you are in the state.

This is the hope of all that have lived here and Most that move here. Check out the free state project. It is quite interesting. Liberal and NH conservative at the same time lol

I agree. I used to spend a lot of time in Vermont skiing, hiking, and relaxing. The 90s destroyed what I enjoyed most about Vermont. It became very artsy. I used to stop a lot in Brattleboro and have dinner at the Mole's Eye on the way back from skiing. I'd stop on the way up and gas up and maybe grab something quick at McD's. I won't eat at the McD's anymore in Brattleboro. Too many pierced, tattoed, unclean, nonwork-ethic types who are slow and don't take pride in what they do. I experienced flies flying around the restuarant, overflowing garbage cans and filthy bathrooms. (I'm particularly aware of McD standards because my friends and I worked there in the late 70s and early 80s while in high school and college. We wore a required uniform, work shoes, paper McD military-style hat and had to be well groomed and have our hair cut so it would not touch the collar.) I've had similar poor experiences elsewhere in town and witnessed bizarre behaviors.

Thankfully Mid and upstate NH are still holding out toward this type of "progress."

If you want to see a lot of "progress" come to the liberal states, like CT and MA, and visit the inner cities and surrounding suburbs. However, be careful if you come not to get in the way of many of the "progressive" advocates as they are speedily moving their families further away from the city.

Nashua(too many people in one place) to Amherst (holy property taxes) to Manchester (where did all these shootings come from?) to Concord(holding the line)?

Be careful NH. What you have is unique. Don't lose your identity.

I'm puzzled as to why folks refer to "progressives" as "progressives."
O'Reilly calls them "secular progressives," but back in the good ol' days before the PC Plague struck mankind dumb, they were called "Godless communists."
They still are, for all intents, purposes, and effects. And communism is not progress, unless one likes gulags.
Good enough for me. Aaaayyup!

Who can't compare 70's institutions with today and point out the deterioration in values, attitudes, and standards? This is not exclusive to Battleboro, Vermont, New Hampshire, or the USA. You are bemoaning a WORLD that does not exist any more. Tattoos? I'll wager most of the vets on this board have a tattoo or two.. or an armful. Gosh and golly if my Great Great Grandfather General Sir Horatio Burns McEwan saw how my Grandfather Captain Hornblower Picard McEwan dressed and behaved, he'd roll over in his grave! This is the generational gap. While the world moves forward and continues to worship the almighty dollar, the older folks will always look back wistfully at times past.

*just an FYI, NH is probably the second most open and accepting state, after California. Here surrogacy, adoption, marriage, divorce, is 50/50, anyone who thinks that this right should not be afforded to everyone, well.... I don't know what to tell you....
Also, NH is mostly transplants... Nobody wants us, but, you want the money....
Everyone that comes to my office rants about transplants, well, I am one, and without me (in my profession) if you take me away, there is ZERO of me to serve the state of NH (i work with all families, gay str8 single etc... and I provide a service that 20% of all US require.... That does not remove NH.)
BTW, NH was the first to make Marriage legal, Divorce legal, and essentially wipe out pronouns and gender. Everyone complains until it benefits them or someone they know.
Becareful, some of you sound sorta scary. As a parent of a gay child, you (or your perceived speech) is what makes me nervous about NH. This is NOT Laramie Wyoming, but some of you sound like it is....
“Before you echo 'Amen' in your home or place of worship, think and remember...a child is listening.”
“ I realize how depraved it was to instill false guilt in an innocent child's conscience, causing a distorted image of life, God, & self, leaving little if any feeling of personal worth.”
“If no one had ever challenged religious authority, there’d be no democracy, no public schools, women’s rights, improvements to science and medicine, evolution of slavery and no laws against child abuse or spousal abuse. I was afraid to challenge my religious beliefs because that was the basis of creation—mine anyway. I was afraid to question the Bible or anything in it, and when I did, that’s when I became involved with PFLAG and realized that my son was a perfectly normal human being and there was nothing for God to heal because Bobby was perfect just the way he was.”

Mary Griffiths, "prayers for bobby" changed my view... Her son committed suicide, then she found his journal, and realized she had driven her son to take his life.

Well, you are way too late.

NH cities and towns have adopted onerous zoning boards and rules and onerous planning boards and rules.

And each year more and more "rules".

This ain't "Live Free or Die" anymore.
