My wife 2006, my wife got laid off in Mass, collected for a couple months, found a job in NH and got laid off 3 months later...In Mass, the requirements (as of '06) to collect require you to show up in one of unemployment offices and fill out a piece of paper that asks where you've applied to...There was even a rule that if you were a full time student you can collect without actively looking for a job.
In NH on the otherhand, they pair you up one on one with someone and you have to visit weekly...If they find you a job, even if it's lower paying, if you refuse it, you stand a good chance of losing your unemployment benefit...
