For those in the area, the high school football championship is Saturday in Amherst. Souhegan High (the high school for Amherst and Mont Vernon) plays Portsmouth. I was at the game this past Saturday where Amherst beat Goffstown. Souhegan High School Football Program, Amherst NH, NH High School Football

It is fun going to these games as the players are enthusiastic and it is pure sport.... When there is a game on a nice Friday night in Amherst, it seems as if the entire town is in the stands....

Talking Research research research

the best thing i can tell you is to do your home work before you move. so that way in a year your not coming on here and ranting about how bad n.h is like some other people have that just moved with out doing any research of where your going to live. IMHO

I was too looking at the Bedford area - great schools, but it has gotten quite populated, but it is still quiet. An area around Bedford, that I REALLY liked was Mont Vernon. The views are amazing and the kids go to the Amherst school district, which is just as good, from what I hear, as the Bedford School District.

Another town to drive and maybe look at is Milford. Milford is nice, but it is more of the town...There is a downtown walking area, has a Fall Festival, restuarants, cute little shops... and it is within driving distance to Bedford. One thing to consider moving from Portland, where you do have everything almost right there, is that not all small towns have a walking down town center, or a grocery store. When you are out in NH, keep a notebook and make notes as you drive around... grocery stores, gas, schools available in the town... Just a few things to consider coming from Portland .

Take a ride on 101A and as some one told me, , "Get lost"... not literally, but don't be afraid to take the back roads and explore. That is how you find the cutest places! I do hope this helps you and enjoy your visit! Dress warm and be ready for winter!
