Default Having issues finding "temporary" tenant in Amherst

Hi everyone,

We recently bought a house in Amherst, NH and will be moving there in late spring/early summer of next year. Ideally, we'd like to rent out the house for about 6 months, but due to the tight economy...well, it's not renting. While we COULD reduce the price, other places that my realtor has listed are also not getting inquiries, so I don't think price is the issue.

I'd appreciate any ideas or contacts for people who specialize in helping people relocate to the area. My thought is that many people want to learn about an area before making a final decision about where to live, or may want to look in the Spring when there are more homes for sale (and loans could be easier to get). My realtor splits the commission with other industry professionals that bring a client (like a sale), so that's not an issue. FINDING the right people that could provide new leads would be great.

The house is large and beautiful and would be perfect for a professional couple and their family. Any ideas would be welcome!

Thanks!

Often times, large companies who need to relocate people to the area will be looking for short term rentals.............maybe your realtor could contact some of the human resources departments of the bigger companies in the area to see if they need any temp/relocation properties? PC connections, BAE, etc................??? Good luck.

Not too many people think of Amherst when it comes to temporary housing. The town is small compared to Nashua and Merrimack. Maybe someone who is having a house built in town. Have you advertised on Craigslist? The Milford Cabinet may be a good place to advertise as well... BTW, if you have any questions about the town, contact me...

Thanks for the ideas.

Angela, I know my realtor has contacted BAE, but PC Connection is a good idea as well. Thanks!

Seamusnh, the house has been listed on Craigslist in the regular housing section as well as the temporary housing. I just relisted it to keep it current. Thanks. I don't know what local papers it has been listed in...will have to contact my realtor to find out.

It's a tough market. Everyone posting a "want" ad on Craigsist wants to spend less than $1000 on a house. It's a fine line to walk...while the income would be nice, what we're most concerned with is finding someone who will take good care of the place.

Thanks for the offer for info about the town, Seamus...I might take you up on that as we get closer to moving! I'm really excited about living there. It's a really beautiful area.
