Question Nashua area

Hi, my husband and I are looking to relocate from Long Island. I am a teacher, there are 2 job fairs in the Nashua area- one for Nashau school district and one for Hudson....Are these nice areas? safe? What are the schools like to teach in? Any info would be great! Thanks so much!
Jackie

Both Nashua and Hudson have lovely neighborhoods. Near Nashua are the towns of Amherst and Merrimack (on the west side of the river) and Litchfield and Londonderry on the east side, near Hudson. I personally don't like Derry (also close to Hudson - pm me if you would like to know more), but the towns I mentioned are all very nice. Pricey, but nice. Of all of them, probably Merrimack would be the most affordable (though property can go all the way to 1Mil even in Merrimack). It's a very kid oriented town - lots of programs for kids of all ages. And, they just finished a new school, so there are no school building programs in the works, for a while anyway, and taxes should be pretty stable, I think. Great safe town, with that 'small town feel' but with all the conveniences.

Nashua is a small city - and it has everything cities have, both good and bad. My sister was happy to move out, but that may have been also that she was moving from an apt to a house.

I remembered a few posts from a little while back about schools. You might check <greatschools.net> and <schoolmatters.com> to see how they rate. the public schools in Nashua looked pretty poor. I had a friend who went to Mount St Mary's (yes, private Catholic) and it seemed pretty good. an earlier thread about Bishop Guertin seemed happy with it as well. If Hollis is hiring, those schools are pretty good.

I used to live in Nashua and I loved it! The town is great for raising children. Nashua is small but not to small and you are a short drive to everywhere. The people are great there, I wish I would have grown up there.
