went back to my apartment... still no power in stoddard... drove by one crew working on all of the trees that were on top of the power wires on rt 9 outside of keene
thankfully a friend has offered me shelter for the night before i head out for the x-mas break
i had to empty out my fridge completely so as to not come home to a stinkin mess in january.
my landlord informed me the national guard was in our area clearing trees (even helped her take one off her home) so hopefully progress will be made soon...
i have friends in hillsborough as well who don't have power and said they were expecting it back by friday so i'm thinking stoddard should be around the same time

Hey all, BF described our Hollis experience pretty well. Crashing trees the night of the storm. Looks like a war zone.
A crew from CT was working on our power lines yesterday, and our neighbors all seemed to come out to check on each other and call each other across town to check in. I have not seen so much concern between neighbors and general good will and extended efforts in a very long time. I love NH, many many people here really are "when the going gets tough" types who endure joyfully.

When we bought the house I got a 22hp tractor, chains, weights, and a 44" PTO driven 44" snow thrower...
Sorry folks- there will be no real snow this year...
Unfortunately we *just* decided to upgrade the home to propane (haven't started yet) to include a generator...and then the storm hit. So I guess we guaranteed no snow...but not ice.

I think everyone hopes that this ice storm was the LAST of the season, and for many years to come hopefully.

It's so nice to hear from the great majority of you that NH-ites really come together and support each other when they need it the most! I am thinking warm thoughts for you all and hoping that the power is restored quickly for everyone - and for those that are still without, that you will have a warm, comfortable place to stay until your home is ready for you. It's in some of the darkest moments that we see just how wonderful people can be.

Yes their are a couple that are cautious, and reserved in the info they wanted to give, but can you blame them. They do have a beautiful state and they don't want outsiders coming in to ruin it.
I have many relatives that live in Fla. they tell me how you can't drink the water there because of the high water table from the ocean and how you have to drink bottled water. Also how many people can't get home owners insurance because of the hurricanes and tornadoes. Florida in the summer is so hot you can't even go outside,so you spend your time in a/c is that living,I would rather have the weather of NH even with our snow you are able to get around. Today is Dec 15 and it's 53 degrees out so far this year our weather is mild but I'm hoping we get snow soon because if we don't our ski resorts are going to be hurting last year they had a great year and I'm wishing them the same for this year. Tara if you don't like NH that is fine, but you need to get a life and move on all of your anger and hate is making you a very bitter and ugly person.

I'm happy you wrote this cause NH is really an amazing place. Lol, I'm impressed, you really did your homework before moving up

Power came on after midnight here. I think the crews must have worked all night, possibly because we have rain /snow forecast this morning. Anyway, I hope those without still stay safe&wrm and get there's back ASAP.

It appears we are now moving on to snow instead. The forecast calls for two snow events the rest of this week.

we moved a bit more south, after 30 years in NH. I miss NH, but not the last week or so. Looking at those photos of the storm damage brings back a lot of memories of other storms. Sorry you all have to go through such a rough time but, like others have said, NH people are sturdy folk, and caring folk, and they'll help one another get through this.

I have to say I've been So impressed with how individuals and the state in general has handled the storm. Colby-Sawyer college is handing out water by the case to people who need it. Neighbors pitching in and helping others install their newly-purchased generators, offering their homes for showers, etc.
We were lucky and got power back pretty quickly - 36 hours out - but while we were "sheltering" in Maine our contractor came to check on the house and brought some packages inside that had been delivered after we left.
Life is pretty much going as as per usual depite the situation. There is a lot of good humor and genorosity of spirit. Yay us!!
As for our Green-eyed, butterflying Tom-boy...please don't feed the trolls. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along....
