It's good to hear the crews from "up north" are still at it. Ten degree weather has got to be torture.

With the new snowfall I can imagine it's one step forward, two back right now.

Have a wonderful holiday, all.

Happy Holidays, everyone! I'm waiting with baited breath to hear that New England has dug itself out! What do the streets look like where you live now?

Last couple of days, I've done a fair amount of running around in the towns of Hollis & Amherst, also Bedford, Manchester, Londonderry and Litchfield. All roads are clear, including various gravel roads. NH knows how to clean up after a storm

Default Coming back into the century

Thank you all for your words of kindness and support. I got my electricity back on December 24. Then we had snow and lost it again. It was restored by the 26th. I have finally gotten all the chores caught up!

For those of you who went through these trials - bless you! A true indication of your strength and character.

Jaqui - Good to "see" you again! I was wondering where you were and how you were doing. It sounds like you've had a lot of trials these last few weeks, but you made it through.

I hope you had a nice Christmas and 2009 brings good things your way!

Yep--haven't been here in a while. Busy time of year, but this one seems busier than most.

I lost power for five days--went out almost at midnight Thursday/Friday and didn't come back until sometime while I was at work the following Wednesday. The generator setup went well, all in all. I was bored senseless without any TV, computer, etc., but them's the breaks. At least I didn't lose any food and I had water (although not hot).

What I DID learn was that my generator goes through a LOT of gas. I'll always keep at least 10 gallons available and the car gets topped off if they're calling for an ice storm.

Driving to work on Friday morning (you didn't think I got time off, did you?) I saw lots of lightning--until I realized that it wasn't lightning at all, but transformers and lines blowing out. VERY spooky.
