Question I haven't noticed neighborhoods with sidewalks?

Dear Everyone,
When my family was traveling in NH a couple of months ago, we haven't seen any neighborhoods with sidewalks. Is that a true picture, or did we just miss them? I am talking about Bedford, Manchester, Salem, Concord, and Amherst areas.

I can't wait to move to NH, but I really would like to buy a 3-4 bedroom house with 9 foot ceilings in a neigborhood where I can walk and actually see people. I know a lot of people like to live somewhere where they can't even see their neighbors, and of course I respect their choice. But I actually get stressed if I don't see people other than at work or malls. Is there any neighborhood that would meet my criteria? I really love NH, but my dream is not to live somewhere in the woods. I would like great schools, a hospital, mall, grocery stores, pharmacy, post office, gym with a swimming pool, people running, exercising... Please don't tell me I can't find any of that in or around towns I mentioned above.

LMFAO Of course we have sidewalks. But when you get into the higher priced homes they tent not to be there. Usually due to those homes being on the outskirts. Bedford and Amherst have very few sidewalks. But the remaining towns have more than their share. You must realize though in Manchester anyway The Sidewalk in front of your house IS your responsibility. To shovel etc. This is why they all seem to be different in front of different homes. The city plows them in winter only in certain areas. So if you half a sidewalk in front of your house and someone trips and falls YOU BETTER have GOOD Holm owner Insurance. Especially sense we are getting more and more sue happy liberals here.

When I was looking for locations to move to, having sidewalks was one of the requirements as I had lived in a community for 9 years where there were no sidewalks anywhere in the town. My kids were trapped on their property. I wanted to be able to walk downtown for exercise or for my kids to be able to ride their bikes a short distance safely to a friend's house. We found what we were looking for in Exeter. We are a mile out of the downtown area and I can walk to the post office, to the bank, to all of the shops, to the hospital, to the movie theater, to restaurants, to the library, to the park by the river. I can walk a 4 mile loop and never leave the sidewalks. It really is unfortunate the way sprawl has developed so-called neighborhoods where the only way to get out of them and to get anywhere in town is to burn gasoline! Keep looking and don't settle until you find what you are looking for!

I AM Shocked that it would be my problem if someone trips and falls down on my part of the sidewalk. It never occured to me that I can be sued over that! Thanks for the info!

As for Exeter, Annabelle, it is a very nice town, but my husband will be working in Manchester. There is no way he would agree to commute.

What about 9-foot ceiling? Is it rare, and if yes, any idea why?
THANK YOU!

There are plenty of sidewalks in Concord also...as for the ceilings!
Many older 1800's homes have high ceilings. Most newer ones don't because of heating costs!

I don't get the nine-foot ceiling thing. why does it have to be nine feet? Why not ten? Is it that you don't want any ceilings lower than nine feet, or you don't want it over 9 ft. for some other reason (heating costs, aesthetics, etc.)
