Lisa I'm confused. I thought we were in favor of Work Houses. Even Mr. Scrooged endorsed them. Oh wait. I see. This is Work FORCE Housing. Better go watch A Christmas Carol again.

However, a correction on the origination of the word Gay...it actually was used MUCH earlier (then homo sexual actually); but then made a resurgence in the 1950s+.
I think a dictionary as far back as the 1600s makes mention of the term being defined to also stand for immoral behavior, at that time- homosexuality or prostitution. So its not really the best example (though most folks only know the history to about 1950).
...that's what I get for having a Mom who was an English teacher/professor. Sigh.
WaMu is a great example of changing words to appeal to the masses. Was "Washington Mutual" really all that complicated to begin with? Apparently their marketing department determined "WaMu" would appeal to more people because some folks thought they could only use the bank if they lived in Washington...Sad huh?

Thanks for the heads up BF66389! Yes historically one can find different derivations of the word gay as in the case of so many other words, for instance the word nice used to mean undisciplined or hard to control. However in the case of the word GAY, this word was specifically dug up to put a favorable spin on what is defined as homosexuality which is defined as deviant behavior.
Just as how many Pop Culture Junkies actually believe a Man can actually have an operation to make himself a woman, as this is impossible because one is born with a specific chromosome sequence and once you are XY you can never be XX. Well maybe in another life!
And this is what is going on with how our homosexual loving politicians have put the spin on section 8 welfare housing so to call it workforce housing! Hoping it would be a more marketable word!

Hoping we can discuss how NH towns are being affected by this.

Some more of my 2 cents on this workforce housing! This is exactly how politicians buy votes. They do it by expanding state and federal programs and trashing neighborhoods with their low income housing programs! Very, very sad when this happens to people who worked hard all their lives and get the rug pulled out from under them!

Why don't we wait for the collapsing real estate prices to drop to a level where hourly workers can afford housing in any town in NH. Simple solution to a market problem. Let the markets set the prices.

I'll second that Comet. I saw that this morning and thought it was just the lack of coffee. I'm glad to see it's still there.
Comet when the prices drop far enough you, Wanna, Lisa, and I can swoop into a town like Littleton, buy up all the land and we won't have to worry about this agan.

I was discussing this with a friend who grew up in CT, her first comment was 'and there's a need/desire for this sort of housing there?' she seemed to think that it would likely fail simply because of lack of interest. I can only hope!
MtnFlyer - I'm looking for cheap housing in New Ipswich, but most of what I find needs a whole lot more work/rennovation than we can handle. But, we'll see!

Well darn. Looks like we'll need to find another like minded individual to join the cartel then.
