Well, my wife has agreed to fly up and spend a few days in New Hampshire. We're looking to be there during the month of June. Can anyone advise a nice place to stay, somewhere centrally located? We're going to concentrate our "future home" efforts in the Belknap & Carroll counties. Thanks again for all your advice and comments; they're very helpful!

When in June are you coming? Bike week is June 13-21 and while it is fun for those who ride and those who don't, it can be very crowded and hotel rooms can be rare and pricey. Just to let you know.
I have heard good things about the Naswa in Weir's Beach but I have never stayed there.

There are a lot of relatively cheap motels in North Conway (as well as some nicer places) and that's a convenient spot in terms of restaurants, shops and stuff to do. It isn't particularly quaint or lovely, though. The other thing to consider is whether your visit has to be in June. Depending on the weather, there could still be black flies around, and that would not endear NH to your wife...they probably wouldn't be in North Conway, but they can be fierce in more wooded areas.

We're either going to be there during the first or third week of June, depending on everyone's schedule. I've checked out Eagle Mtn and the place looks great. The prices seemed pretty fair, all things considered.

I asked a Butterfinger bar for guidance today. He said, "Eat me." Who was I to say no?

My family and I are moving to Littleton NH in March from MA. It is much colder up there, but i'll tell ya, as soon as we reach the White Mountain National Forrest, our noses unclog and all the sinus pressure is gone! We love NH, and also hate cold weather, but it is most def. worth it in the summer, spring and especially the fall! In the summer you barely need your AC. And our kids absolutely LOVE the snow up there. It's so magical when it falls, so slow and sparkley. The cost of living up there is alot more affordable as well. Make sure that when you come up, you come and visit Mt Washington and all the Great North has to offer - trust me, one trip up there and she won't want to leave!

Yes, you absolutely want to avoid bike week, unless your wife is into motorcycles. It's the June 13th to the 21st this year.
And unfortunately, all of June and the latter part of May is black fly season (and the ticks are bad in recent years too.
But it is a beautiful time up here, bugs and bikes aside.

Actually-when I posted to him about bike week-I was telling him about it not to avoid it in case they are not motorcycle people but so he would be aware of crowds and potential lack of hotel availability etc. Also he should be aware of it if he does move close to Weir's Beach. Neither my husband nor I own bikes but we enjoy Bike Week. We are in walking distance and walk down a few times for food and to check out the people. It is a fun time. I think every NH resident should experience it once whether they are into bikes or not. They have a guy there who has the best french fries and I am hungry just thinking about them
