A couple of years ago, the Mayor of Manchester, N.H. was interviewed on the radio and he said that the city was paid to accept these refugees. There are quite a few Bosnian and Croatian refugees too.
On a NH Public radio program on the issue of settling these Somalian refugees, it came out that the jobs they tended to be given were - guess what?- civil service jobs dealing with other refugees!
The Somalis who were here a year or more before the new arrivals were being paid to teach newcomers about things like electric and gas stoves and refrigerators.
The funny thing is they are very visible as they tend to wear their loose, colorful, clothing (at least in warm weather) and they tend to be tall.
I have not heard or read of any criminal activities associated with these refugees or any others for that matter.

Just to echo what Granite Stater mentioned, I have an associate in Maine who was telling me a few months back that there is what he referred to as a large influx there.
