Default Hanover/Lebanon NH and Burlington VT

I will be moving to Hanover/Lebanon around June 1st and have been searching for apartments. There only seem to be two major apartment complexes close to Dartmouth....Emerson Gardens and Stone Farm.

Does anyone have any reviews of these places?

Second, rent seems so expensive. I could rent a house for the cost of the apartment rent. I really want garage parking or covered parking at least.

How far is the commute from Burlington VT to Hanover? Is it a bad drive in the winter? Does the train run between the two places even if there's a snow storm (Well I guess it technically run btw Burlington and White River Junction but its close enough)

Last but not least, are there any great hair stylists in Hanover/Lebanon?

Maybe a weird combo of questions but I need some advice.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Driving from Burlington to Hanover would take about 90 minutes, and the interstate down, last time I rode it, was not too great. I would hate doing it more than twice a month! In the winter, I would not even bother -- that road is a deathtrap during a blizzard (I89)

Hanover is as diverse a town as you get, with the college there -- there is very likely a fancy hair stylist downtown! (so that isn't 100% helpful, I know. Been 5 years since I worked up there)

You can't commute over that distance. Why would you want to anyway? If you have to work in Burlington you should just live there. More choice for apartments, also a college town, and a beautiful setting. Both Burlington and Hanover are jewels IMO.

I lived in West Leb for 4 years with my 3 kids while my husband did his masters and an entreprenueral project. Great experience for us. We knew many students living in StoneFarm...they liked it. The flats were nice. No undercover parking...a plus when you have to shovel the snow away from your car and driveway. If you do not have children you can rent anywhere.

Consider, Lebanon, WEst Leb, NH or WRJ and Norwich, VT which has a nice village feel. Near Mascoma lake is beautiful.

I went to Beleeza in the Powerhouse Mall in Lebanon. I can't remember her name, but she was a good hairstylist. It's a little expensive, but expect consistent results and they use great products on your hair-for HEALTHY hair...not too gooped up.

good luck.
