Default Question about shooting ranges and good "open areas"?

I'm going to be arriving in NH for about a week snowboarding but was thinking about bringing my rifles with me as a 2nd bag, assuming there are good places to go shooting. Are there places similar to NV's deserts where one can legally shoot? Don't let me down, "live free to die'rs"

Oh, and as far as the weather's concerned: it's never too cold for that!

Where are you going to be? There is a public (pay) range in Manchester. Mostly handguns unless you buy their frangible ammo for a small fortune.

The majority of ranges/clubs are member-only; but they are prevalent.

North Conway area. I saw a lot of YT videos where people are shooting their Bushmasters in the snow in NH. Just wondering if they were just doing it in some areas that are "shooter friendly".

You might want to PM SgtHoskins; he's been in the area longer/is a more active shooter than I am.

I think a lot of those folks are probably shooting in their backyards; plenty of folks have properties that are appropriate/safe for shooting on.

I belong to a few private clubs and do most of my shooting at them. However I do coyote hunt on state and private land all over the place with my AR with no issues.

I am not familiar with the North Conway area (it's 3 hours north of me) so I am sorry I can't give you some suggestions on where to go.

PM me and I'll hopefully be able to hook you up with someone in that area that may have an idea where you can send some rounds down range.

As far as I know, you are fine on state land.

The law for firearm discharge in NH is that you must be 300 ft. from an occupied structure, or have permission from the person occupying the structure. After that, I haven't found much else prohibiting shooting. Hell you can even legally walk onto private property and hunt if it's not marked as no hunting (although it helps the sport's perception to get proper permission beforehand)

There's lots of conservation areas all over the state. I assume you're good to go on any of them....as long as you follow all the common sense protocols that follow shooting high powered rifles. Most of my buddies site in their firearms on conservation land. I was planning on getting my .223 sighted in soon at the local saltmarsh.
