Well, it's not ok. Call Concord folks and let them know how you feel.
I am a fiscal conservative as well, but I think we need to implement a common sense cap and trade in order to diversify our energy portfolio as well as lessen our dependence on coal. Cap and trade is also a stimulus for green job companies, start-ups, and R/D. Global warming is a reality and many scientists say we must get to a baseline of 350PPM in order to help stabalize the climate. We can not act alone in this regard, but I think technologies will make this figure easily attainable and then some over the next 20 years.
For the prior eight years we had the other extreme viewpoint regarding energy brought to the people by the Bush Administration. They catered to the oil, gas, and coal interests whenver possible with big time lobbyist support in DC. You had mountaintop removal going full steam ahead in Appalachia, profligate gas drilling all over BLM land in the West, and coal mines operating at peak capacity in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana. This extreme overdevelopment was not sustainable nor healthy. People cry NIMBY whenever a coal plant is proposed in there backyard. Many don't like nuclear either. We are left with fewer options on the table. Energy efficiency continues to be strongly emphasized as well as conservation. Stimulus money will likely be directed toward upgrading the electric transmission line infrastructure in order to expand renewable energy projects across many areas of the US. This can only be a boon for the renewable energy industries and a relative bust for the non-renewable energy industries.

There is no such thing as global warming. There have been cooling & heating cycles for millions of years. Sunspot activity is also a player in this. Global warming is a political scam. We can't plot weather out more than 4 days with any great accuracy and you're telling me that we understand global weather activity ? These "green energy" sources are not enough to power an industural society. So of course we lean on coal, gas, and oil.....it's all we got. I would like to be like France which gets over 80% of its energy from nuclear but our politics will not allow it so we need to mess around with these alt-enery sources. Cap & trade is just another scam to pay for government....you don't think those billions would be going for energy research, do you ?

You can't push your socialist agenda and increase .gov revenue without making up a reason to do so.

Global warming is a reality. The only question is how much man is really responsible for the warming. The global average temperature has increased 1F over the past 100 years and CO2 emissions have exponentially increased for the past 250 years.

Thousands of scientists say otherewise. We will just agree to disagree. It's an absolute political fraud of the most rank kind IMO.

One has to keep on top of the global warming theory. At first, 1998 was the hottest year on record, but a y2k software glitch was discovered and now it is in 1934:
DailyTech - Blogger Finds Y2K Bug in NASA Climate Data

5 of the top 10 years on record are from before WWII. Of course a few hundred years of data seems meaningless in light of a 4 1/2 billion year existance....

For those of us old enough to remember we had the global cooling scare in the 70s (the coming ice age) then we had the acid rain scare in the 80s (we are all going to die) now it's this global warming foolishness......just sad
