Default Another Snow Day!!!

Here we go again.

Our school district called off school for the umpteenth time this year. You figured we would be used to the routine by now but I have to ask (as I get ready to hook the plow up again) Will it ever end??

Have a nice day!

Hmmmm, I wonder if we're going to get one. It's coming down pretty hard, but I see my neighbor across the street waiting with her kids for the bus. And the snow looks like it'll start melting once the cars start driving on it.
ETA: Well the bus showed up, so I guess no snow day for us!

Saturday and Sunday were just snares to get our hopes up that spring is more than a memory.

Talking snow=yuck

That's it, I'm done with shoveling for the year. I don't care if we get a foot of snow, it can melt when it's darn good and ready I spent the last 2 Sunday's at the beach. Last week was major COLD (remember we got 16" later that day/night) with huge storm waves and yesterday was just perfect, there must have been 20 horses and 50+ dogs... Oh and there were even a couple of fools in the water.

Last year (or maybe the year before) our Lancer Band departed for NYC's St. Patrick's parade in a blizzard (and they had to line up/wait to step off in a snow-covered parking lot) but the weather was PERFECT for Manchester's parade just a week or so later... Spring is coming, just likes to tease us a bit before getting here!

One of my kids was (to put it mildly) disappointed that school wasn't canceled, or at least a delayed opening. However, each day from here on out will be added on at the end of the year, currently June 25. If I were them I'd much rather be out of school on a warm summer day than a snowy day in March!

Yesterday was so warm and springy! I can't believe it! It's beautiful out but I was getting excited to start cleaning up the yard, etc. Checked the phone messages to see if we had a snow day but to my son's dismay...nope!

I *almost* dedicated Sunday to removing the snow thrower and putting the mower back on the tractor. Glad I instead engaged in battle with some Home Depot outdoor lights (which I ended up returning and putting the old lights back on).

What do working parents do with their children when you get a snow day? Do you take off work? and if so, how understanding is your employer?

Spring is officially due to arrive on Friday the 20th according to the calendar. Snow can continue to arrive even o into April but would be unlikely to be the cause of another school-day.I turn my heat off on April 1st every year. It's possible for a freezing nighttime temperature to arrive then, but generally routine temperatures are getting really nice by then. It's not terribly uncommon to have school 'make-up days' to last beyond the end of June interfering with family 4th of July holidays. High School graduations sometimes have to be put off for a later date, for grades to come in, or to see if everyone actually shows up for their make-up-days.
