Buying your plants from a local garden club is the perfect way to create your gardens from locally grown plants. Members typically 'thin the herds' of their own gardens, and many native species are available at a fraction of the cost from buying from a nursery. Garden club members are very helpful and love to provide information on which plants work best for sun, shade, soil types, etc. (vs. the typical big-box employee who will read the tag to gain information...)

Glad to see that there are local garden clubs. Can you tell me which towns have them in Merrimack or Belknap area?

blessed me, I wish you could too.... Soon tho
iclyde, we will probably have TONS of strawberry plants at Derry's plant sale on Saturday. Also lots of herbs, usually chives, thyme, rosemary, tarragon (I need to bring home some replacements, mine's no coming up well this year) I don't recall ever seeing much for veggies, usually those are considered annual plants (many of the perennial plants come from member's own gardens...
I would recommend that if possible, you stop by early in the day for the 'must haves' then swing back later in the day within 1/2 hour of 'closing time' for bargains. Last year toward the end, we did BOGO half price, then BOGO free. Really some tremendous bargains, and still we donated a huge amount of plants to one of the local animal shelters fund raisers.
We will also have planted baskets for sale, various garden items, some raffle items, cook books, LOTS of good stuff Come on by
