Wow Val...that's messed up (about your friend). I do not see too many things about DCYF that I like or agree with.
In my bf's case...his son has been tossed around WAY too much and it's been VERY unfair to him. All this time, he could have been living with us. Instead, they had him in a foster home just because it was in the same town that he lives in and they figured that was best for him. WHAT? How is NOT being with his father BEST for him!
I don't understand their reasoning behind 99% of what they do. I've talked to SEVERAL CASA volunteers on several occasions and described the entire situation to them, leaving no details out. They all agree that DCYF could have handled the whole thing a LOT differently. One CASA volunteer even told me that he was thinking about giving up his volunteer work because he's so fed up with DCYF's policies and LACK of regard for so many children's fathers. "They clearly have something against allowing fathers in their kids' lives" is exactly what he told me! How sad.

But, for now....we are just thrilled that his son will be able to come here and have all that he needs (at least every other weekend anyway).

Thanks for the well wishes!
