Hi, I live in a bordering town (Bedford) and I can tell you about the area. Merrimack is a nice town. I dont think that there is a lot of new housing developments being built, but you could find that out from an internet search.

There is no state tx or sales tax. New Hampshire's motto is live free or die. Property taxes are probably higher than you are accustomed too. Currently, there is not a lot of shopping there, although they are going to be building a major outlet mall, which will be great.

It has a very small town feel with a great sense of community.

Jetta

We moved from Merrimack a little over a year ago. Its a nice town, safe, good schools, close to shopping. Not sure if anything new is being built, but when we were there we had a house built (not in a development) so you could look into that. Its a big soccer town (if you have kids into that).

Its close to the Manchester airport too.

sohaibkhan,
There are lots of sources to find new homes. Log on to links removed. Both of those sites have really good search engines by town, home type, etc. You would probably find the property taxes to in line with where you live. NY has some high taxes, including sales tax. New Hampshire generates all it's taxes locally within it's town structures. I live in Mass. and we have similar taxes to NY. I found the NH taxes to be fairly reasonable concidering what it pays for.
Merrimack is just south of Manchester which is NH's largest city and north of Nashua, another thriving city with lots of shopping.
