Areas Close to Logan airport
Hi,
Which areas should I look if I want to be about less than two hours from Logan airport? Preferably, towns with good public transportation to Boston.

Manchester and south along I-93 and Portsmouth and south along I-95. There is bus service from Nashua as well. Boston Coach charges $75 per week (10 rides) for the commuter bus to South Station from Exit 4 and 5 in Londonderry.

C&J bus service has buses leave from Dover, Portsmouth, and Newburyport ever hour to Logan.
Also, Dover and Exeter has the Downeaster train line that arrives in North Station.

We are wanting to take the train from Boston Logan Airport to Portland Maine. Do you know if we can catch the train from the airport or do we need to take a taxi to the train station?

You'll have to either take the silver line bus or grab the shuttle to the subway (T) station about a mile from the airport. That gets you to the blue line. Take that inbound to the State St. station and switch to the outbound orange line. Get off at north station. The Downeaster leaves from there.

Other Buses to Logan from NH
To the OP. You mentioned a 2 hour radius to Logan, so here is more:
Concord Coach Lines operates buses from Concord and some points north to Logan. Dartmouth Coach operates buses with on board movies and snacks from New London, Lebanon, and Hanover (Dartmouth College). Free parking is available at all these locations except Hanover.
Disclosure, I am a former employee of Dartmouth Coach, but am no longer affiliated with them. They have websites:
Concord Coach Lines: Connecting Maine and New Hampshire to Boston & Logan Airport
Dartmouth Coach: Connecting Upper Valley to Boston, Logan Airport, Stamford, CT, and New York City
