Moose in Londonderry!
The buzz in town tonight is the moose who was strolling around the Home Depot/Dunkin Donuts and 99 Restaurant earlier tonight. He (she?) was also seen wandering around The Nevins (55+ housing development) shortly before dusk. Hopefully the Londonderry police will handle this latest wildlife issue better than they did the wild and crazy goats a few years back (fellow Londonderry residents may remember that bad ending...)
Run away Moose! While you still have a chance.....

Londonderry is a nearly perfect habitat for Moose because of the extensive wetlands and the lack of predators outside of cars and trucks. I have heard, but not confirmed, that there is a small herd of the critters in the Musquash swamp.
Moose at Home Despot. cool!

What did the police do? Shoot the goats? Some cops are fairly stupid in how they handle wildlife issues sometimes.

moose are common in that area and have been seen in Manchester as well.
I don't know the goat story, but just last year in Laconia, the cops murdered a mother bear that was in a tree nursing two cubs. The babies were taken to a refuge, but I never heard if they made it or not...they were newborns.

How awesome. I have spent at least part of every year of my life in NH and have yet to see either a moose or a bear. Would LOVE to see both.

UNH is conducting a study on black bears in NH - you may have seen the posters "Something's Bruin in NH"....
a 2 1/2 year old male bear was ear tagged and fitted with a radio collar at the Durham/Lee townline and UNH students were amazed at how far the bear traveled - he had a 140 square mile radius and was seen as far west as Candia.
