What's happening in town (weekly activities, etc)
It's summertime! Time to get out and mix it up a bit with your neighbors, or go check out an event in a town that you might not have visited yet. Is there a weekly or monthly gathering that you want to share? A special one-time only event? A concert series? Town-wide yard sale? Toy swap? Pancake breakfast? What's happening in YOUR town?

Londonderry
Our weekly event in Londonderry is Concerts on The Common, held from 7:00 to 8:30 PM each Wednesday, rain or shine (concerts held at Matthew Thornton Elementary School gym). 1st concert of the year was this past Monday (6/8) with a performance by the Londonderry Middle School & High School Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Lab. Fun stuff!
Here's the schedule 2009 Summer Schedule:
June 17 The Nutfield Sessions
Local musicians in an acoustic "open mike" format. Show up, sign in and have some fun.
June 24: Blues on White
Blues on White is a trio featuring, Rich Baldwin on electric bass and backing vocals, Billy Parker on percussion/drums and vocals and Doug Philbrook on lead/rhythm guitar and vocals. Together they play roots and blues music that is funky and fun! (from their website)
July 1: Liz Longley
A night of Acoustic/Folk
"Liz is often accompanied by guitar talent Sarah Zimmermann. The two team-up for engaging vocal harmonies and a rapport with audiences that is filling coffeehouses and venues throughout the region. Liz has performed at the Philly Folkfest, Club Passim’s in Boston, Tupelo Hall in New Hampshire, and Philly’s World Café. She has shared the stage with Nanci Griffith, Kenny Rankin, Lucy Kaplanski, Livingston Taylor, and Jonathan Edwards." (from her website)
July 8: NO CONCERT
July 15: The Jason Spooner Trio
Bluegrass/Folk
"Whether you're a fan of great songwriting or power-house live performance, Jason Spooner is an emerging songwriter to watch closely." (from their website)
July 22: Russell Hill Band
Just north of creation, twixt hope and salvation, is Russell Hill. Where four fathers and life-long songsmith’s inspired by the greats and humbled by the power of music, Morgan Keating, John Grant, Gary Young and Rick Carr cast in a foundry of friendship simple, solid songs that reflect and celebrate the beautiful brilliance and strength of the human spirit. Music that speaks of common things that life brings and connects us all with folk ideals, Americana passion, and Country grit. (from their website)
July 29: Seth Glier
The Trouble With People marks Glier’s evolution from emerging artist into a sophisticated musician and songwriter. Equipped with a keen observation of the human condition, Glier’s lyrics are thoughtful and seem to amplify the cry of the ordinary heart. His infectious passion and energy transcend his live shows and leave listeners talking for days after his performance. Simply put by CD Baby, "When it comes down to Seth’s music, either you love it or you've never heard it before.” (from his website)
August 5: Nyte Shift and Funk Pod
Rock the night away with our very own hometown talent!

Excellent Idea
Val, this is a good one.
I hope everyone posts what is happening in their town. Now that we've finally made the move to New England, I'm excited to get out and about!

Derry...
Derry has a GREAT lineup of events this summer. Concerts and events are held at McGregor Park (next to the library). Each Tuesday and Thursday night brings a different style of music and a variety of performers. Pack a picnic dinner, arrive early to get the best spot, and enjoy the music as the sun sets down...
Thursday, June 25, 5:00 Kidz Night Out Bash
A bounce house (tix $1.00), an interactive performance by Campardy, and an outdoor showing of the movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Bring your blankets, your bug spray and a comfy blanket!
Events too numerous to list here--check out the schedule for more info:
