Like much of the country, yes, it's been super-rainy. My friends in Annapolis and my family in NY and NJ have all said " did we move to Seattle when I wasn't looking?"

I do miss NH and its 4 seasonal weather.
I miss the fall and county fairs.
I miss spring and the excitement of that first day when the leaves and grass start to grow.
I miss the winter after a snow and the quietness when outside.
I miss summer and the various weather days from 60 to 98+ deg.
I don't miss fall and all the leaves and prepping for winter
I don't miss winter and occasional bitter cold days in the single digits
I don't miss Spring and all the cleaning and repairing from winter and the waiting and waiting for the flowers to bloom.
I don't miss summer and the inability to make any plans without the changing weather ruining your day.
That's what makes New Englanders and especially Granite Staters a hardy bunch

That's pretty funny although I have to say summer in NH (southern at least) lasts for a solid two months. What NH and New England really lacks is a spring. It seems to go straight from winter to summer in the month of May. I noticed you live in Fla. Looks like you're trading one extreme for the other. Most people in the country agree avg daytime highs of 80+ constitute summer. That being the case we get a nice 7-8 months of summer in Orlando. We had 16 days with a high temperatureof 80 degrees or greater December of '08.

Which towns are best to settle in if you come from a hot climate and haven't dealt with a lot of snow and extreme cold?
My family are considering several states in the USA. Some are in New England. We will be living on a fixed income, and have school age children. Any suggestions?

The seacoast of New Hampshire has the mildest climate in the state (less snow in winter, less cold temperatures). Look into Portsmouth, Rye, Hampton, Exeter, etc.
I believe that the public schools in all of these towns are generally highly regarded. Unfortunately, real estate is typically more expensive near the coast than in other parts of the state, but I suppose it's a trade-off for the weather.

Spring for me seemed to go from melting icebanks with sand on top in March/April - on to mud season in April. Then May showers bring June flowers (I may have that wrong by one month, but it's NH).
I'll have to agree with summer 2 months - July and August and then ends quickly (physically and physcologically) on Labor Day. Break out the flannel shirts. NH people love to wear flannel no matter what.
Florida is an opposite extreme for sure. I work in Orlando during the week. It's hotter in Orlando than the Venice beach house on the gulf that is farther south by about 2-3 deg in summer. Florida as a whole is the bizzarro world when coming from New England. I do like going to Disney at Xmas time in my shorts.

I wish it would stop raining soon. I was out driving today and things looked really saturated. I saw more yellow pine needles on the road (root rot perhaps?) Things have to get better after last week.

One would think right? I am getting close to freak out point with this rain. My buddy is flying out this week to do a big hike with me this weekend. The weather is looking hit or miss. I can't take much more of this....one entire month of summer just washed away. I hiked last weekend in the clouds and it was all one big bog. Oh and the fishing will totally be shot for a few weeks with all this fresh water dumping out of the rivers....okay, pity party over!
everyone get ready for some serious bugginess soon.
