Default Prius driving in the snow

Howdy all,

Any of you folks drive a Prius and able to give us feed back about how it drives in the snow?
We are moving back to NH (hopefully in the next 5-6 months) and are considering shipping our Prius back too.
I do have some concerns though. From what I understand the drive train on the Prius stops power to the front wheels when it detects wheel spin. (like on ice). If that is the case does that put you in jeopardy if for example, you were trying to get on to a busy road in traffic, and had the power to the front wheels cut out leaving you 1/2 in the intersection and not moving?

Any feed back from actual Prius drivers would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Add a used Subaru with snow tires for winter driving and you will be fine.

Movingback, I don't drive a Prius, but my neighbor across the street does. When I get home from work, I'll ask him about winter driving and will post his comments here. I do know that he drove it exclusively the last couple of winters, and we had quite a bit of snow & ice. However, we live in southern NH (Londonderry) and the roads are generally pretty well maintained.

Greg-
Thanks for the reply, but I don't want to add a 3rd car to the stable.
Although I am not opposed to putting snow tires on the Prius if needed. (never needed them before, but it couldn't hurt)

Valerie-
Would appreciate you asking
Specifically, I am very comfortable driving in the snow in NH (have 15+ years doing so) But heard The traction control in the Prius cuts off power to the wheels completely if it senses major tire spinning. I see that as a possible danger if it strands you in the middle of an icy intersection or road with traffic closing in on you.
