Reasonably Priced Parking in Boston?
Hi, we're about to venture into the city on our first weekday excursion and I'm wondering if there are any reasonably priced parking garages/lots? We'd be spending the whole day. Alternatively, is it better to drive in and take the T? It seems to add so much time to the trip...thanks!

What part of Boston are you planning on going to and to what sights?
I parked in Boston for a meeting (downtown) one time and it cost me $35 for 3 hours. But I also took my daughter to the Children's Museum and paid $18. So it depends where you go. The T is always cheaper ($4 to park - $2 to ride).

Drive to the nearest suburban T station, park your car and ride the train. Lots simpler and much less expensive.

There is also the bus from Nashua. Not sure if it runs on weekends.
I'm spoiled by being able to park in the North End for free...

I usually drive to the Alewife T station (end of the Red line) which is easy to get to by Rt 2. It is $7 to park for the day.

Does it add a lot of time to your trip to take the T in? That's what we were planning to do, but it seemed like it would add a lot of time and not save that much since we'd be buying 4 tickets and still paying something for parking.
PS We'd be going to see the usual tourist sights - Public Garden, Quincy Market, Freedom Trail, etc.

If it is 4 people, you might as well drive in. The T would be $8 plus $7 to park at Alewife so it is $15. The ride on the T would be 30 - 40 minutes or so from Alewife to downtown... There is some less expensive parking in the north end along the water. Try Commercial St. along the water, near the intersection of North st.

We parked beneath Boston Common for $22 all day. For the time we saved, it was well worth it. Thanks for all the tips - one of these days, i want to figure out a better way!
