As I said earlier, I live in Portland. I live here because it is a better area for me currently. I can get decent rentals, I enjoy the activities, and have a good job. I do feel that I will end up back in NH at some point in life. I am originally from the Monadnock region so I could easily see myself there or back on the seacoast 30 years from now. Every time I drive over the bridge into NH from ME, I feel like I'm returning home.

Is that where you had the surgery and is it also where you found a cardiologist? This is really good news to hear that Portland has specialists and facilities with solid reputations and credentials. Thanks for mentioning this info.
Congrats on the house. Freeport is an excellent area. It is like a combination of Kittery and Portsmouth. Make sure that you explore all possible travel routes to Portland if you plan on making that drive often. Many people just take 295, but I don't feel that it is the best/quickest route. Try route 9 and route 1, and then decide for yourselves.

Maine Med is a great hospital. Portsmouth hospital is also great too. I don't feel that you would have been at a loss with either.
