Florida girl looking to relocate
Hello, I am a born and raised Florida girl interested in moving to New Hampshire. It is so beautiful there and I have heard nothing but good things about people, crime and schools.
My husband recently lost his job of 6 years and now we are both wanting to move. I have never seen snow and am dieing to experience all the seasons. We have a 2 year old daughter and are looking to move with in the next year. Our main concern is that my husband has a job to go to. Can anyone tell me where we can find jobs?
Also what are the best areas for families? We will have to rent so I would love info on homes or apartments to rent as well. Where can I find info on this? News papers? Etc?
P.S. This may sound like a weird question but the way the world is, I have to ask. My Husband is Hispanic and some places are very against having them in their community. We are a normal, fun loving family and I do not want any racism issues. Sad that this even has be a question ! Can you tell me if some places in NH are better or worse in that area?
Thank you all so much!

Racism is not the issue - but legality sure is. Is your husband here in the US legally?

LOL no he was born in NY. I was concerned more that we would be alienated and I do not want to raise my daughter in that type of environment. I just love NH it seems so outstandingly beautiful.

Ok, first of all, what's your husband line of work? Job would be heavily depended on it. There's not a lot of jobs here. Best bet would be southern NH, more population so more opportunities. Be prepared for the seasons, winter can be hard over here without being used to it. Or maybe you'll find that you enjoy it! My husband is Hispanic and we've never had any problem here. And we don't live near any Hispanic community. Funny thing is we're probably moving to FL soon, due to a job opportunity there. We love it here, but cost of living is killing us. As for places to rent, craigslist is a good source, also check Union Leader and Nashua Telegraph (newspapers in Manchester and Nashua). But you should have the job first, the cost of living is high around here.

I am the hispanic husband of Storylady. Price of living is high? ALL over New Hampshire? Here in Florida the pay is crap, but the price of living is low,l so it evens out. I have been to New Hampshire and love it as well. I am looking to start a business, so I'm kind've up in the air with what I will be doing. Are there alot of martial arts schools in New Hampshire? That's my main line of interest. I was a gator wrestler here in Florida, but needless to say, that won't work out too well in NH. LOL.

Id start by looking at a map of NH to see where you might live and go to craigslist to see accurate rental prices of where you want to live...

There really is not a lot of job opportunities in FL right now either. The only thing we see hiring now are restaurants and with those most want so much experience. As I said before, hubby just lost his job of 6 years and we were both shocked. I guess it's everywhere right now. I love FL but i am tired of the heat. Thanks for the advice.

And to that end... [url="http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-hampshire/421873-new-hampshire-geography.html"] /URL] here's an old thread that has lotsa maps and general geographical info that might help.
From NY, eh? and you wrestle gators?? So... spent your youth in the sewers? lol! no, not very many of them up in NH, we mostly have private septics, I don't think the critters would be able to roam around.
BTW, welcome to the forum!
