Check out Moultonborough, and while you are there don't miss a visit to Castle in the Clouds.

It depends on what towns you are interested in. Every town has a different property tax rate, and schools are funded at differing levels. With that being said, NH ranks as the safest state with the best quality of life according to "CNBC."

I would look somewhere in southern N.H. There are a l;ot of nice areas there. I may be wrong but i think moving from the Orlando area to the northern part of N.H. might put you into shock. I know how i felt coming from there to down here. There are a awful lot of nice towns in the southern part of the state. Take a trip up and check them out.

LOL. For what it's worth, Storylady lives with me in Orlando, but was born and raised in the stix. She is a country girl through and through. She met me and moved to the Orlando area because of my job at the time, so moving up to Northern New Hampshire, with it's wide open spaces, is right up her aisle. I come from New Jersey, so snow is nothing new to me, neither is cold weather. Granted, It gets colder and snows more in New Hampshire, but it's all relative. So really, the only thing that would make a difference is the cold and snow, and when I took my wife to New York City in 2005, it was between 10 and 28 degrees, dipping below zero with the wind chill, and my wife was fine. She was hot, actually. I tried to tell her she was dressing too warmly for a day of being out and about. I told her the rule of thumb is, if you are hot when you first go out, you are dressed too warmly. Anyway, the cold didn't really bother her too much, so......
We will check S. New Hampshire, though. There seems to be a general consensus on that. Thanks for all the info, guys. We really appreciate it.

Hi 'Story-heat'
If you have time, you might also check out Plymouth. It's a lovely college town at the southern end of the mountains. Just absolutely gorgeous driving up through that part of I93. Village Pizza also had some really good food when I was there (we planned on the pizza, but got distracted by the rest of the Italian food!). anyway, it's a really nice area if you want scenic, and not so far north that you have to drive 20 min to find your next door neighbor

Then Pittsburg or Errol might be a good fit. There's plenty of wide open spaces there.

Eh, mostly "wooded" open spaces
I love taking some of those old logging roads that are public access.
