Default Concord - what's it like?

I stayed there on my first trip to NE quite a few years ago and it seemed a very convenient place to get around to everywhere else. Would it be a good place to retire, say COL wise vs. more Southern NH?

Concord is a solid mid-sized city that has everything as far as shopping & medical services. As for retiring......i would look just 35 miles north to the Lakes Region. More of a country feel, but just a quick drive to Concord, and under 2 hours to Boston. Good luck

Concord has some really stunning old houses. A friend of mine just bought one and when I looked it over the carpentry would be nearly impossible to duplicate and the trim is furniture grade oak. The house is big enough for an elderly person with a full time couple to provide live in aid and the other couple lives in the huge first floor. All for less than 300k!

Concord also has a working main street and access to several big box stores just down the road.

pauloman is on a distinguished road
houses, etc. get cheaper as you move north. But less shopping, places to eat, etc. Concord is a good 'middle ground' balance and a nice place too!
