All rodents do that.Squirrels,rats.flying squirrels ect. They have to do that to keep their teeth shortened. I trap a lot of squirrels out of peoples attics down here. They will chew whatever is in front of them. Wood, wiring.pvc pipe ect. He probably will keep chewing as long as he's around.

KenE My only question is why all the way up on a balcony? I am surrounded by trees and have a lower deck and about an acre of wood fence. It seems like the balcony would be a long way to go with so much around to chew on that is easier to get at. I also have tons of black walnuts on the ground that they are always gnawing on. I hope I scared him enough with his long jump from the balcony that he thinks twice about doing that again. Thanks for the quick reply.
