Default What is the Sci-Fi community like in Keene?

My husband and I are nerds to the core, and we like our nerdy friends. Are there many comic book/gaming stores near town? Also, I was wondering if there are any Sci-Fi conventions near Keene...I know that the Sci-Fi world is really taking off in other small towns and was wondering if anything like that has made it to your area.

Thanks for any and all responses!

Well.. it's not exactly near Keene (except in so far as it's much closer than FL), but have you ever been to Boskone or Arisia? They are large cons held in Boston. I think Boskone is over Memorial Day and Arisia is in Jan. A friend of mine runs the costuming track at Arisia. Some day I'll get there.

since Keene is a university town, I'm quite sure it has comic book stores and such - just never heard of any big regional cons.

Boscone and Arisia are the big ones although WorldCom shows up ever once in a while. I think there is an SF writer's group in the Keene area. A & I prefer this form of literature and entertainment because it allows a lot more creativity.
