I live in White Cliffs and we pay like $800/mo including water/sewer. It isn't the nicest place, but it's like 700-800 sq. feet, 2 bedrooms, and the apartments are pretty decent. However, it does have a bad rap and people have mentioned to me that stabbings have happened here in the past. In my first month I have noticed nothing out of the ordinary or any threats at all. If you are concerned you could call up the police station.

Next to White Cliffs is The New Meadows which I believe are 2 bedroom/2 bath for $1000, but don't quote me on that. At least from the outside they are nicer and I've heard good things about them.

Old Madbury Lane is on 155 as well and looks quite nice. I'd imagine this comes with a cost and I'd expect it to be around the price of the New Meadows or higher. It seems like more of a family atmosphere and more character to it.

Both of these are on 155 in Dover near the Madbury line. Spaulding Turnpike/Route 16 is less than a mile from my apartment with easy access to Somersworth and north, or south towards Portsmouth or back onto Route 95. Both apartment complexes are about ~2 miles to downtown Dover.

Newmarket is considerably smaller than Dover and has a small downtown area, but a lot of people like it. The biggest problem I see is it not being as well located near a major highway. You have to go up 108 to Durham for 5 miles to pick up Route 4 to get to Route 16, or go down 33 to get to Route 95 in the Portsmouth area.

Durham is terribly expensive and full of students. Not a great choice unless you find a place that isn't a huge complex and is located well away from campus.

Portsmouth is like Durham, minus the students. Most places seem to be pretty expensive, but you might be able to find a lower quality place that has a lower rent. I do not know of any however.

Hope this helps.

Thanks SFT! Is the set of two smaller buildings in front of white cliffs part of white cliffs? Or is it another complex? It doesn't look as nice.

And thanks to whomever suggested winchester - I'll look into that.

I got the name of a landlord that owns a few rental properties in dover - going to check him out too.

Thanks!

The whole first row of buildings including the brick duplex one-story houses are not part of White Cliffs. White Cliffs are the back 4-6 buildings (I forget how many exactly). I think all those buildings in the front are Westgate or something along those lines.
