One must have been the ringleader. Violent sociopaths almost always have accomplices, whether its a spouse/lover covering up for them, or friends they talk into helping them commit their crimes. Sociopaths are very manipulative and use bullying tactics on those they sense are weak-willed.

I am also praying for that, and a whole lot more.

I agree, I think there is more to this story that we haven't heard yet.

My condolences to the family and blessings to the town.

I think we'd like to believe that "there's more to this" so that we don't have to live with the knowledge that there's senseless and unpredictable violence in the world.

+1

This is what bothers me. All day on the radio everyone is trying to figure out what led to these monsters savagely murdering this woman. I think it makes the sheep feel better that there is something that makes people bad. The sooner people understand that there are monsters in the world that do not value human life the sooner they might start being more proactive in protecting themselves and their families.

There are monsters in world, they want to kill for the joy of killing. Get it through your heads people.

It's relatively normal for humans to try to find order in the dis-order. Yes, I agree with you that sometimes there is no 'good' reason for horrible things. Even if there is one: does it make the senseless slaying of all those people at Virginia Tech any better because the wacko had autism issues? Does it help their families heal any better? How about the Columbine families? Or the federal employee's families in OK..... yes, there are monsters in the world. Personally, I tend to think at least one of those kids was reading too much Manson (a swastika on his forehead? come on!). I have no sympathy for the kids, I feel no need to support them for the rest of their lives. I feel sorry for their families who probably aren't monsters but likely should have been a bit more active in their parenting!

Keep your powder dry!

I found it interesting seeing the father of one of the boys talk about how he tried everything to keep his son away from the other kids. In other words, his first inclination was to absolve himself of any responsibility. He may have been in shock, but he seemed just a bit cavalier about it. If I were him I'd be a complete wreck. But he looks like his son just got in a fight at school and everyone's making a big fuss about it instead.

As soon as I saw a mugs of those kids I couldn't help but think here we have some white trash kids dressed like neo-nazis. Also, their crimes are very similar to those committed by people on meth. Basically very frenzied, amoral, with an emphasis on sadistic violence instead of sex or money.

I urge everyone to read the book, "The Sociopath Next Door" by p.h.D. psychologist and clincial instructor at the Harvard school of Medicine, Martha Stout. It's a fascinating look at those in our society that operate outside the norm. As I don't live in NH, I haven't heard or read all the interviews, etc. but I think the comments from the father of one of the boys was interesting. I believe he was homeschooled or whatever, supposedly in an attempt to keep him away from other kids and their evil influences. But maybe there was another reason. The kid was probably exhibiting odd behavior from an early age, perhaps commiting violent acts against other children or animals, and this was the father's way of coping, and protecting his son, while shielding his true nature from the community.

The frequency of home break-ins from drug users in my area has gone up quite a bit in the last two months. I expect it's only going to continue to get worse.
I hope people reading this thread take their and their family's safety seriously and become proactive in securing their homes and having a means to defend themselves should the time arise. Hoping it's the house down the street and not yours isn't going to help.
