We are looking to purchase a second home in Wentworth, NH. Any info about the area would be great.

It is basically a village that has a small population of <800 people. Some people have little cottages or camps there. It is rural but not isolated. It is an easy drive down 25 highway to get to Plymouth, were you will find all of your basic amenities. The best natural feature close to Wentworth is Stinson Lake, which is fantastic. Also, Wentworth is very close to the White Mountain National Forest. Plenty of hiking areas abound just to the north of that area, especially Mount Moosilauke.

I've been looking into Wentworth too. If you google, the town selectmen's minutes are online. That's my favorite way to find out what's going on, who has influence, what's about to be built or spent in a town. I even found out who had trouble coming up with their tax money. Never go to the meeting to discuss your tax troubles - they put your name in the public minutes!!

I guess "isolated" is a matter of opinion. It is reasonably close to Plymouth which is good, but I've always considered Wentworth to be "in the boonies." It has always struck me as a somewhat poorer area.

But the natural setting is wonderful... it's very peaceful and there's great outdoor opportunities everywhere.

Wentworth is an interesting town. Close enough to Plymouth and even Lebanon to get to major things, but far enough for the day to day things that it can get frustrating. If you love the woods, you will love Wentworth.
